The Samsung Galaxy A37 5G is the stronger fit if you value its IP68 rating and Samsung’s stated long-term software support. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 17 5G offers a larger screen and substantially higher listed battery capacity, but Xiaomi’s published specifications differ by region. In an India price snapshot, the Redmi was listed for less; treat those figures as changeable listings, not guaranteed prices.

Which phone has the better display and size?
The Redmi has the larger listed display: Xiaomi UK gives it a 6.99-inch diagonal, compared with Samsung’s 6.7 inches for the A37. Both are listed as FHD+ panels with refresh rates up to 120Hz. Samsung identifies its screen as Super AMOLED, while Xiaomi calls the Redmi panel AMOLED; those names alone do not establish which looks better. Choose based on whether you prefer a larger viewing area or a slightly smaller phone, and if possible compare the exact regional models in person.

Which has the better cameras?
The A37 has three listed rear camera modules: a 50MP wide camera, an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 5MP macro camera. Xiaomi’s cited Redmi specifications list a 50MP main rear camera. That gives Samsung more stated rear-camera options, but camera counts and megapixels do not prove overall photo quality.
Front-camera specifications for the Redmi conflict by market: Xiaomi UK lists 16MP, while Xiaomi India lists 8MP. Samsung lists a 12MP front camera. Check the exact local product page or model listing before buying; do not assume the UK selfie-camera specification applies to an Indian unit.

Battery capacity, charging and included accessories
Samsung lists a 5,000mAh typical battery for the A37. Xiaomi lists 7,700mAh typical for the Redmi on its UK and global pages, but 8,000mAh typical on its India page. These are regional manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements of battery life. A larger capacity figure by itself does not establish how long either phone lasts in real use.
Xiaomi lists 45W wired charging for the Redmi in both the UK and India. The India specification page also lists 22.5W reverse charging; the cited Samsung announcement table does not state an A37 charging rate. Package contents also vary: Xiaomi UK says a power adapter is not included, while the India page says its package includes a 45W adapter and case, plus a pre-applied screen protector. Confirm box contents for the market and seller you are considering.

Durability and software support
Samsung rates the Galaxy A37 IP68, while Xiaomi’s global Redmi page lists IP65. These are different ingress-protection ratings, not guarantees that a phone cannot be damaged by water or dust. Follow the manufacturer’s usage and warranty terms rather than treating either rating as permission for risky exposure.
Samsung says the A37 is eligible for up to six generations of Android OS and One UI upgrades, and up to six years of security updates. Xiaomi’s global product page states six years of security updates for the Redmi. These policies are not identical: Samsung explicitly states an OS/One UI upgrade allowance, while the cited Xiaomi global claim is for security updates. Update availability and timing can vary by model and market, so check the terms for the exact regional SKU.

Price difference: India snapshot, not a universal price
The 91mobiles India comparison page displayed ₹44,999 for the Samsung Galaxy A37 5G and ₹27,999 for the Redmi Note 17 5G when accessed for this comparison. That is a ₹17,000 difference calculated from those displayed listings, with the Redmi lower. The figures are third-party, volatile listings—not manufacturer-confirmed prices, guaranteed checkout totals or launch prices. They should not be applied to other countries.

Which one should you buy?
- Choose the Galaxy A37 5G if IP68, the stated Android/One UI upgrade policy, or its listed ultra-wide and macro rear cameras matter most to you.
- Choose the Redmi Note 17 5G if you want the larger listed display, higher published battery capacity, or—based on the India listing snapshot—a lower listed price.
- Pause to verify the exact regional model if battery capacity, front-camera resolution, included charger or case, network compatibility, or local support terms will decide the purchase.
Samsung announced the A37 on March 25, 2026, with availability starting April 10 in select markets; that schedule does not mean it was available everywhere. Xiaomi’s regional specification pages differ, so confirm the phone’s model and network bands with the seller or local manufacturer before ordering, especially when buying across borders.
