CHOICE also displays a price of $1,699, but that is not a current market quote. Its accessible page restricts performance, battery, display and tester-comment details to members, so those results cannot be established from the listing.
What makes the Gram 14Z90P appealing?
Low weight with a taller 16:10 screen
LG’s 2021 family announcement describes the 14Z90P as a 999g laptop with a 14-inch, 16:10 IPS display at 1920 × 1200 and a 72Wh battery. The taller aspect ratio gives more vertical workspace than a 16:9 display of the same width, which can make documents and web pages easier to view without scrolling. These are family-level launch specifications, not a guarantee that every regional suffix has identical components.

Useful ports on the family variant
LG Australia’s page for the related 14Z90P-G.AR64A lists two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports, two USB-A ports, HDMI, a headphone output and USB-C DC-in. That is a useful family cross-check, not an exact AR62A port inventory: confirm the ports on the specific unit before buying or choosing a dock. The AR64A page also lists a 72Wh battery, 8GB onboard LPDDR4x and 512GB storage plus one slot; its 512GB configuration differs from CHOICE’s 256GB AR62A record.
What independent testing says about the 14Z90P family
Notebookcheck’s May 26, 2021 review tested a different, higher-spec 14Z90P: a Core i7-1165G7 model with 16GB RAM, a 1TB SSD, Iris Xe G7 96EU graphics and a glossy 1920 × 1200 IPS display. The review unit weighed 967g. Its measured performance and battery results should not be treated as AR62A results.

Notebookcheck praised the tested laptop’s portability, port selection, quiet operation and endurance, while noting that the display was strongly reflective and color reproduction was a weakness. Its battery results are useful as protocol-specific family evidence, not predictions of everyday AR62A battery life:

The gap between the Wi-Fi browsing results at ordinary test brightness and maximum brightness illustrates how strongly display settings can affect runtime. Different hardware, battery condition, software and workloads can also change results; the test does not establish how long a used AR62A will last on a charge.

Is the display suitable for your workspace?
The 14-inch 1920 × 1200 resolution and 16:10 shape are attractive for portable productivity, but Notebookcheck’s test unit had a glossy, strongly reflective panel. That matters most near windows, under overhead lighting or outdoors, where reflections can compete with on-screen content. The review also called color reproduction a weakness, so color-critical work deserves a closer look at the specific unit rather than an assumption based on the resolution alone.

Because CHOICE reports the exact model as discontinued, a buyer is likely to be evaluating existing stock or a used or refurbished unit. A sound offer depends on the actual machine and its seller, not just the family’s headline specifications.

- Verify the full model suffix. Check that the listing and machine identify the 14Z90P-G.AR62A, not a related regional variant such as AR64A. Suffixes can correspond to different configurations.
- Confirm the components. Check system information for the processor and RAM, and inspect storage capacity. CHOICE’s AR62A record is for an i5-1135G7, 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD; do not assume a different listing matches it.
- Check the screen in your intended lighting. Look for reflections, dead pixels, pressure marks and uneven brightness. If possible, view it near the kind of window or lighting where you expect to work.
- Assess battery condition and charging. Ask for the battery’s reported health or capacity, test unplugged operation, and confirm that the charger works. Notebookcheck’s results came from a different machine and cannot establish the battery health of a used AR62A.
- Inspect ports and physical condition. Test each port you expect to use, along with the keyboard, trackpad, hinges, webcam and wireless connection. Confirm exact port availability on the AR62A rather than relying on the AR64A family page.
- Review seller protections and support. Check the return window, warranty coverage, included accessories and any local repair or service options before committing.
- Judge the asking price against alternatives. CHOICE’s displayed $1,699 is not a current valuation. Compare the offer with current laptops available in your region, accounting for the older processor generation, condition and battery wear.
Who should consider this laptop?
- It may suit someone who prioritizes a light 14-inch laptop, a taller-than-16:9 screen and, if confirmed on the unit, a broad selection of built-in ports.
- It is a weaker fit for frequent outdoor work or reflective environments, color-critical tasks, or workloads that need more than the AR62A’s listed 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD.
- Buy cautiously if the seller cannot verify the exact suffix, battery state, configuration or return terms. The family’s favorable independent review does not remove the uncertainty of an individual discontinued machine.
