The Galaxy A35 5G and A55 5G share the same headline display, battery capacity, 50MP main camera and announced software-support commitment. The A55’s listed upgrades include a higher-resolution ultrawide and selfie camera, and it uses a higher-tier processor in Samsung India’s launch specifications. At UK launch in March 2024, the A55 cost £100 more than the A35 at either matching storage tier; that is a historical launch-price comparison, not a current-price quote.

What does the Galaxy A55 add over the A35?
Higher listed camera resolutions beyond the main sensor
The A55’s ultrawide camera is listed at 12MP against the A35’s 8MP, while its front camera is 32MP against 13MP. Both phones still share a 50MP main camera with autofocus and optical image stabilization (OIS), plus a 5MP macro camera. Megapixels alone cannot establish which phone takes better photos or selfies in practice.
A different processor tier in the India specifications
Samsung India lists the Exynos 1480 for the A55 and Exynos 1380 for the A35. That identifies a hardware difference, but does not by itself quantify everyday speed, gaming performance or battery impact. No independent benchmark results are established here, so those claims should not be inferred from the model numbers alone.

Regional construction details and water resistance
Samsung India describes the A55 as having a metal frame and the A35 as having a glass back, and lists both as IP67 rated. Samsung’s US A35 page also lists IP67. These details should not be generalized to every regional SKU: check the local specification for the exact model. IP67 is a resistance rating, not a promise that a phone is waterproof or indestructible.
How much more did the A55 cost at UK launch?
Samsung UK’s March 11, 2024 announcement listed these recommended retail prices. It said retail availability began March 20, 2024.

These are March 2024 UK launch RRPs, not current prices. Discounts, availability and prices in other countries can differ; compare the same RAM and storage configuration in your market. Samsung’s US announcement listed the A35 from $399.99 at launch, while Samsung India published separate launch prices and noted bank cashback. Those figures do not establish today’s prices or a like-for-like A55/A35 price gap in the UK.
Do both phones have the same screen, battery and update promise?
Both models are listed with a 6.6-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display, refresh rates up to 120Hz and Vision Booster. Both have a 5,000mAh typical battery; Samsung gives a rated minimum capacity of 4,905mAh. Capacity is not a direct battery-life comparison: Samsung says actual battery life depends on factors including network conditions and use.

Samsung announced up to four generations of Android OS and One UI upgrades, plus five years of security updates, for both phones. This is the manufacturer’s announced commitment; it does not mean every update has already reached every device or region. When judging support value, consider how much of the promised period remains from the handset’s original launch and the device’s update status.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Which phone should you choose?
- Choose the A35 if: it is meaningfully cheaper locally and the shared display, main-camera specification, battery capacity and support commitment meet your needs.
- Consider the A55 if: the higher listed ultrawide and front-camera resolutions, or its India-listed processor tier, matter to you enough to justify the actual local price difference.
- Compare carefully before paying extra: check identical RAM and storage, local warranty and regional specifications. The UK launch premium was £100, but it is not a reliable guide to current deals or pricing elsewhere.
Neither model is established as the better real-world camera or gaming phone by these specifications alone. If those are your deciding factors, look for independent tests of the exact regional models rather than treating megapixels or processor names as performance results.
