Samsung’s 2026 Bespoke over-the-range microwave adds a front air intake alongside the conventional bottom intake, aiming to capture fumes from front burners as well as the rear of the cooktop. Samsung reports up to 82% fume capture in a controlled chamber test, but that manufacturer result does not prove the same performance in a home kitchen.
What is different about Samsung’s DualVent microwave?
Most over-the-range microwaves combine cooking and ventilation, drawing air through an intake under the appliance. Samsung’s DualVent design adds a second intake at the front. The goal is to draw fumes from farther across the cooktop, including front burners, which can be harder for rear-positioned intakes to cover.

Samsung says the front blades open with a tap and close automatically when ventilation is turned off. The concept changes where air enters the microwave; it does not eliminate the need for suitable installation and ducting.
Does the vent work on front burners?
The front intake is specifically intended to improve coverage over front burners. Samsung reports up to 82% fume capture in its test, but that figure comes from a controlled chamber comparison—not an independent test in ordinary kitchens. It is evidence of the design’s stated potential, not a guarantee that a particular installation will capture 82% of cooking fumes.

What Samsung’s 82% figure measures
Samsung says the test took place at the ICE&KS Pre-Development Lab on February 9, 2026. It used a CO2 tracer method per LBNL (2020), comparing two intakes and one exhaust with standalone hoods under identical chamber conditions. The result is Samsung-reported; it is not an independent study and does not mean the microwave removes 82% of all household cooking pollution.
Samsung cautions that actual results can vary with installation, duct type, cooking method, and environment, and says DualVent must be installed according to its guidelines. Those factors matter when translating a chamber result to a specific kitchen.

How it differs from an extending hood design
Techlicious identifies LG ExtendaVent as another approach to front-burner coverage: its hood extends forward, while Samsung adds an intake at the microwave’s front. These are different design choices, not proof that one captures more fumes. The cited reporting does not establish an independently tested head-to-head winner.
For a practical comparison, look at intake placement and any comparable capture testing, installation and duct requirements, microwave capacity, connectivity, fit, and current price. Do not compare Samsung’s 82% chamber-capture figure directly with a ventilation rating such as CFM; they describe different measurements.

Connectivity and automatic fan behavior
Samsung’s Auto Connectivity feature can coordinate microwave status with certain Samsung cooktops or range ovens that support Wi-Fi and are connected to the SmartThings app. Samsung also says the ventilation fan can turn on automatically for safety if the appliance’s bottom temperature is high. That safety action takes precedence over Auto Connectivity.

Samsung’s U.S. announcement on August 19, 2026, said the DualVent microwave was available through select retailers and Samsung.com. Samsung’s Global Newsroom, in a release dated August 20, described U.S. and Canada availability beginning in September 2026 and called the product exclusive to those two countries. These statements establish the announced market scope, not availability in other countries.

Samsung’s press materials identify an image as ME80H30, but the announcement does not establish that as a retail model number. Confirm the exact sellable model on the current product listing before ordering or checking compatibility. Samsung’s catalogue illustrates the broader category: the Smart SLIM ME11A7710DS/AA is listed at 1.1 cubic feet and 550 CFM. Those specifications are not directly comparable with the DualVent capture percentage.
