Samsung’s Good Lock support team has acknowledged two separate One UI customization problems: Home Up can shrink widget text to unreadable sizes after resizing, while Sound Assistant and related volume surfaces can display different numeric levels. Samsung says improvements are being pursued, but has not announced a release date.
Samsung’s Good Lock support team has acknowledged two separate defects affecting Galaxy devices. The first is in Home Up, where reducing a widget or icon size can also reduce the widget’s text proportionally, leaving labels tiny or effectively unreadable. The second affects volume controls: Quick Settings and the expanded volume panel can show different numbers for the same volume state. An example cited in coverage is 80 in one interface and 81 in the other.

Android Authority reported the acknowledgements on October 14, 2026. Samsung indicated that its developers are looking for a way to address the Home Up text-scaling behavior and confirmed the volume discrepancy. No timetable for either improvement has been published.

What is going wrong
Home Up widget text becomes too small
Home Up controls home-screen layouts, icons and widgets. When a user reduces a widget or icon size, the associated text may scale down with it instead of retaining a practical minimum size. The result can range from inconveniently small labels to text that cannot be read reliably. This is a scaling defect, not an indication that the widget’s underlying data has disappeared.

Volume numbers do not always match
The second defect can make Samsung’s volume interfaces disagree. A level shown in Quick Settings may differ by one step from the value displayed in the expanded volume panel. That mismatch affects confidence in the selected setting even when audio output itself appears normal.

Sound Assistant is designed for granular audio control. Samsung describes support for volume increments from one to 10 and per-app volume management, which helps explain why a one-step display difference is noticeable to users who depend on precise adjustments.

Why the bugs matter
The Home Up issue is primarily a readability and usability problem. Small text can make calendar, weather, media or shortcut widgets harder to use at a glance, particularly for people who have enlarged system text for accessibility. The volume issue is a consistency problem: users cannot be certain which displayed number represents the effective setting when two Samsung surfaces disagree.

Samsung’s Global Newsroom reported more than 21 million cumulative Sound Assistant downloads, measured in early March 2025. The same report listed more than 17 million cumulative Theme Park downloads and more than 16 million cumulative One Hand Operation+ downloads. Those figures are cumulative downloads, not active-user counts, but they indicate that defects in a popular module can affect a large installed base.

What you can try now
Samsung has not published a dedicated workaround for either confirmed defect. Its general widget troubleshooting guidance is still useful for determining whether a separate software problem is involved:
- Install updates. Check for available phone or tablet software updates, then update Good Lock and the affected module through Samsung’s app distribution channel.
- Restart the device. A restart can clear a temporary launcher or module state that is causing a widget to render incorrectly.
- Remove and re-add the widget. Delete the affected widget from the home screen, then add it again and test its size before rebuilding the rest of the layout.
- Test in Safe mode. Safe mode helps identify interference from another downloaded app. If the widget behaves normally there, a third-party app may be involved.
- Use a factory reset only as a last resort. Back up personal data first. Samsung’s general guidance reserves a reset for persistent widget failures; it is not a confirmed fix for the Home Up scaling defect or the volume mismatch.
For the volume discrepancy, compare the two interfaces after updating and restarting, but do not assume that changing a volume increment setting will correct the display bug. Sound Assistant’s adjustable increments change control granularity; Samsung has not said they resolve the inconsistent number shown between surfaces.

What to expect from a fix
Because the behavior may vary by Galaxy model, One UI release and Good Lock module version, the same steps may not produce identical results on every device. A future Home Up update would need to separate widget geometry from a minimum readable text size, while a volume-control update would need to keep the numeric state synchronized across Quick Settings and the expanded panel.
