Safari does not have one universal “trust this site” switch on Mac. To allow a site to do something specific, such as open pop-ups or use your camera, change that site’s setting for that behavior. On Mac, go to Safari > Settings > Websites, select a setting in the left column, then choose an option beside the site. On iPhone or iPad, Apple documents a separate switch for pop-ups under Settings > Apps > Safari > Block Pop-ups.
Allow pop-ups for one website on Mac
- Open the website in Safari.
- Choose Safari > Settings, then click Websites.
- Select Pop-up Windows in the left column. Scroll down if it is not visible.
- Find the website and choose Allow from the menu beside it.
Apple’s Mac pop-up instructions cover this per-site setting. Leave When visiting other websites unchanged if only this one site needs pop-ups: that menu sets the default for sites without their own configured choice.

Change another website setting on Mac
Safari keeps site controls separate by behavior or permission. In Safari > Settings > Websites, select the relevant item in the left column, then choose the option beside the site. Depending on the control, the panel includes settings for camera, microphone, screen sharing, location, downloads, notifications, pop-ups, autoplay, content blockers, and Reader.
- To configure the active site, open it in Safari, click the Page menu button in the Smart Search field, and choose Website Settings if that option is available.
- To review settings for sites, choose Safari > Settings > Websites.
- Select the specific control, such as Camera or Pop-up Windows.
- Choose the desired option beside the site. To change the default for sites without an individual choice, use When visiting other websites.
The controls and choices vary by setting and site. For example, Apple documents Ask, Deny, and Allow options for camera and microphone access. Changing one permission does not grant other permissions. See Apple’s guides to customizing settings for each website and changing Websites settings.

Change pop-up settings on iPhone or iPad
On iPhone or iPad, open Settings > Apps > Safari, then turn Block Pop-ups on or off. Apple’s documented mobile control is a Safari-wide pop-up switch, not the Mac per-website Websites panel. Apple’s pop-up safety and settings guidance also lists Fraudulent Website Warning in this section.
Decide what to allow, and stay safe
- Grant only the behavior the site needs for the task. A request for camera, microphone, location, downloads, notifications, or pop-ups is a separate setting.
- Prefer an individual site choice over loosening the default for all unconfigured websites when the need is limited to one site.
- Be wary of pop-ups that imitate trusted companies or ask for personal or financial information. Apple advises avoiding interaction with suspicious pop-ups or pages that appear to take over the screen.
- If unwanted pop-ups continue, Apple advises updating the device and investigating unwanted software rather than interacting with the page.
Do Safari site settings sync across devices?
Apple says some Mac Website settings can be shared with other devices when you are signed in to the same Apple Account, have iCloud set up for Safari, and have two-factor authentication turned on. Page Zoom sharing is limited to another Mac or an iPad; privacy-sensitive settings such as Camera and Microphone are not shared across Apple devices.
