Full parallel execution in the described hybrid Java framework depends on a custom Allocator and Run Manager—not a universal setting shared by all test frameworks. If your project contains those components, select the scenarios to run, configure the thread count and sheet selection, isolate each worker’s state and artifacts, then launch the allocator’s Maven profile.
The property names and command below come from a DEV Community how-to attributed to Shell QA. The page’s publication metadata and implementation could not be independently verified, so treat these steps as framework-specific and confirm them against your project before running them.

Check that your project uses this framework pattern
The approach described here uses Excel-based Run Manager sheets and an Allocator that reads enabled rows, pairs keyword execution blocks with their data, and dispatches work to a thread pool. It also refers to a Global Settings.properties file and a Maven profile named runAllocator.

These names and behaviors are not general Java or Maven conventions. First check your project’s code and configuration for the Run Manager, Allocator, property names, sheet parsing, profile handling, and Maven profile. The how-to does not establish a repository, framework release, or verified code listing.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Configure the scenarios and worker count
- Mark the work to run. In the relevant Run Manager sheets, set
Execute=Yesfor each intended keyword or data-driven scenario. The described Allocator uses these rows to determine what to dispatch. - Set the thread count. In
Global Settings.properties, setNumberOfThreadsto the number of enabled scenarios, following the how-to’s rule. Its example uses 42 active iterations andNumberOfThreads=42; this is an illustration, not a capacity recommendation or performance result. - Check the configured total. Before execution, ensure the enabled rows match the intended run and that the thread count reflects that selection. The example’s one-thread-per-scenario rule does not establish how many threads your machine or test grid can safely support.
Choose how the Allocator selects sheets
For work split across several keyword and data sheets, the how-to recommends a master control sheet named All, with RunConfiguration=All. It also describes aggregating multiple sheets by modifying the custom Allocator.
| Approach | How selection is maintained | Implementation effort |
|---|---|---|
| Master control sheet | Centralizes run selection in a master sheet; the example uses All and RunConfiguration=All. |
Recommended in the how-to; avoids the described custom parser change. |
| Multi-sheet aggregation | Keeps sheet names separate in RunConfiguration. |
Requires changing Allocator.java so getRunRows() parses and merges comma-separated sheet names. |
Choose the master sheet if centralizing selection is suitable for your workbook. Use aggregation only if your Allocator supports the required parsing change. The how-to’s sample allocation totals 38 rows, but that figure is illustrative, not a measured result.

Prevent shared state from breaking concurrent runs
- Browser sessions: Keep WebDriver instances and driver utilities thread-local so parallel keywords do not share or cross-wire browser sessions.
- Application data: Give concurrent data-driven runs distinct test data, such as unique credentials, when tests operate on shared application state.
- Profiles: The how-to says to set
EnableProfile=Falseif profiles are unnecessary. If session state requires them, it recommendsUseMultiProfile=Trueand a separate profile directory per thread to avoid file-lock conflicts. Confirm these properties and their effects in your codebase. - Run evidence: Write logs and screenshots to thread-specific directories so concurrent workers do not overwrite or mix their artifacts.
Start conservatively and run the allocator
The how-to advises beginning at 50% of available thread capacity, checking machine or grid health, and scaling from there. This is author guidance, not a validated benchmark or a universally safe threshold. Monitor the environment you actually use; the example thread count alone does not establish a safe operating level.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute- Confirm the enabled scenarios, sheet selection, isolation, and configured properties.
- Run
mvn clean test -P runAllocatoronly if your project defines therunAllocatorMaven profile and the command matches its setup. - Review thread-specific logs and screenshots, along with machine or grid health, before increasing concurrency.
The cited how-to does not verify that this Maven profile exists in other projects, nor does it report controlled timing or reliability comparisons. Do not infer a speedup or an optimal thread count from its configuration examples.
