On a factory-default switch with no startup configuration, RUCKUS documents the initial username super and password sp-admin. Change that password after signing in. SSH and browser access also require a reachable management IP address.
Choose an access method

RUCKUS documents all three as ICX access paths, but none is guaranteed to be enabled or identical across every model and configuration. Check the guide for your exact model and FastIron release. The RUCKUS Support product area links to model-specific documents. Its FastIron 10.0.10 (GA) Web Management Interface User Guide listing, added June 15, 2026, applies to ICX 7150, 7150ES, 7550, 7650, 7850, 8100, and 8200 switches.

Use the documented factory-default credentials only when they apply
RUCKUS’s FastIron Security Configuration Guide, version 08.0.92, documents these credentials for initial access to a factory-default device with no startup configuration:

After successful authentication, change the default local account password. These credentials are not a universal login: a saved configuration, a changed password, or provisioning may have changed the account or authentication behavior. The FastIron Management Configuration Guide, version 08.0.90 also describes first-time access using this account, but follow documentation that matches the software installed on your switch.

Find the management IP for SSH or web access
The 08.0.92 security guide says a factory-default ICX device can obtain an IP address through DHCP and that you need to know the address before connecting by SSH or web. The guide does not specify one discovery method that works for every network. Depending on your setup, check the router or DHCP server’s lease list, use your network-management tools, or consult the model-specific setup guide.
Once you have the address, make sure your computer can reach it on the management network. If it cannot, confirm the address and network path before troubleshooting credentials; a login prompt is not available until the switch is reachable.

Connect through the route that fits your situation
Local console
Use the console when you have physical access, particularly if SSH and web access are unavailable. Console connectors and cable requirements are not established as identical across ICX models. Check the hardware documentation for your exact switch before selecting a cable.
SSH
Connect to the switch’s management address with an SSH client. SSH requires a reachable address and must be available under the switch’s configuration. If it is a factory-default device with no startup configuration, the documented first-access credentials above apply; otherwise, use the configured account.

Web interface
Open the switch’s management address in a browser if web management is available. The exact page and functions depend on model, FastIron version, and configuration. Use the matching web management guide rather than assuming that instructions for another ICX switch apply.
If you cannot log in
- Default credentials are rejected: Check whether the switch has a startup configuration, whether someone changed the password, or whether it was provisioned. The documented defaults apply only to the stated factory-default condition.
- The switch does not respond at its address: Verify the management IP in the DHCP lease list or network-management system, then confirm your computer can reach it.
- SSH or the web interface is unavailable: The access method may not be available under the current configuration. Try console access if you have a compatible connection, and consult the matching model and software guide.
- You need account recovery: There is no single verified recovery procedure established for every ICX model and FastIron version. Follow official recovery instructions for the exact device or contact RUCKUS Support; do not assume an unverified reset recipe is safe for your switch.
Match documentation to the switch
Identify the ICX model and installed FastIron version, then use the corresponding product area’s Documents tab and guide. RUCKUS’s Switch Information documentation directs administrators to the relevant ICX product area for configuration guides. Matching the guide matters for login behavior, interface details, recovery steps, and console hardware.
