But the gap in real-world gaming performance depends on the game, resolution, settings and exact card—and the sources available here do not establish one dependable percentage advantage. Compare same-day prices for the specific cards you would buy, then decide whether the 5080’s premium fits your budget and target experience.

How much more does the RTX 5080 cost?
NVIDIA announced launch prices of $999 for the RTX 5080 and $749 for the RTX 5070 Ti in 2025—a $250 difference at launch. Those figures are useful historical context, not a promise of what either card costs now.

For U.S. price context, PC Gamer’s October 1, 2026 tracker reported Amazon offers near $1,653.47 for an RTX 5080 and $1,185 for an RTX 5070 Ti. These were dated retail observations, not guaranteed current prices (PC Gamer). Separately, Tom’s Hardware reported a $1,099 median street price for the RTX 5070 Ti in its October 2026 guide, compared with its $749 launch MSRP; that median is a different measure from PC Gamer’s individual Amazon offers (Tom’s Hardware).

Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Check the price of the actual board-partner models you would purchase on the same day. A large premium for the 5080 makes the 5070 Ti more compelling on value; a smaller gap may change that calculation. Account for the whole build, too: a pricier card is not automatically the better use of money if the 5070 Ti already suits your games and target resolution.
#1 Best Overall
- Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4. System Requirements: Minimum 850W PSU with 16-pin 12V-2x6 (12VHPWR) connector required. Verify before purchasing. OC mode: 2685 MHz/ Default mode: 2655 MHz (Boost Clock)
- SFF-Ready enthusiast GeForce card compatible with small-form-factor builds
- Axial-tech fans feature a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
- Vapor chamber ensures efficient heat transfer for lower GPU temps
- Phase-change GPU thermal pad helps ensure optimal heat transfer, lowering GPU temperatures for enhanced performance and reliability
What the performance evidence does—and does not—show
NVIDIA places the RTX 5080 above the RTX 5070 Ti in its GeForce 50-series lineup. Its comparison graphic, however, illustrates a feature-assisted 4K setup: max settings, DLSS Super Resolution and Ray Reconstruction, with frame generation enabled on 40-series cards and Multi Frame Generation in 4X mode on 50-series cards (NVIDIA). It should not be read as a native-rendering benchmark or as a general percentage uplift between these two cards.
Upscaling and frame generation affect what a displayed comparison means. Upscaling renders internally at a lower resolution and reconstructs an output image; frame generation inserts generated frames between conventionally rendered frames. A feature-assisted frame-rate figure is not the same thing as a count of frames rendered natively by the GPU. For a useful comparison, match the game, resolution, quality settings and driver, and compare native rendering separately from DLSS and frame-generation modes.

- Military-grade components deliver rock-solid power and longer lifespan for ultimate durability. Compatibility: 348mm (13.7") length, 3.6 slots, 4.3 lbs. Confirm case clearance and slot spacing. GPU bracket included.
- Protective PCB coating helps protect against short circuits caused by moisture, dust, or debris
- 3.6-slot design with massive fin array optimized for airflow from three Axial-tech fans
- Phase-change GPU thermal pad helps ensure optimal thermal performance and longevity, outlasting traditional thermal paste for graphics cards under heavy loads
The available comparison material does not establish a reliable head-to-head gaming percentage across a representative suite. Avoid choosing based on a single generalized uplift number; performance varies by game and settings. If you rely on benchmark reviews, look for clearly named test games, resolution, settings, driver version, and whether upscaling or frame generation is active.
Choose for your games, resolution and display
When the RTX 5070 Ti makes more sense
- You can buy it meaningfully below the price of a comparable RTX 5080.
- Your target resolution, refresh rate and games do not justify the extra spend for the higher-positioned card.
- You would rather put the price difference toward another part of the PC or keep it in your budget.
When to consider the RTX 5080
- You have a demanding target in mind and have checked relevant, like-for-like benchmarks for the games you play.
- The price difference between the exact cards is acceptable to you.
- You specifically value the 5080’s higher place in NVIDIA’s lineup, while understanding that the cited lineup graphic does not establish a universal gaming uplift.
For either card, distinguish native rendering from upscaled or generated output when comparing results. If you play a mix of games, prioritize benchmarks for the titles and settings you actually use rather than assuming every game will favor one card by the same margin.

Check the exact card’s fit and power requirements
The GPU name does not tell you whether a particular partner card fits your PC. NVIDIA’s RTX 5070 Ti reference page lists 300 W total graphics power and recommends a 750 W system power supply based on a specified test PC, while warning that add-in-card specifications vary by manufacturer (NVIDIA). Do not treat that recommendation as a substitute for checking the exact model and your full system.
- Find the maker’s product page for the exact board model or SKU you intend to buy.
- Check its length and thickness against the case’s GPU clearance and available slot space.
- Confirm the required power connector and the card maker’s recommended PSU capacity; verify your PSU has the required connection and capacity for your build.
- Review the retailer’s return policy before purchase, especially if fit or power compatibility is uncertain.
NVIDIA announced RTX 5080 availability beginning January 30, 2025, and RTX 5070 Ti availability in February 2025, with cards from board partners including ASUS, Colorful, Gainward, GALAX, GIGABYTE, INNO3D, MSI, Palit, PNY and ZOTAC (NVIDIA). The announcement documents launch context; it does not confirm present stock or the dimensions and requirements of every partner model.

A practical buying decision
- Set your target games, resolution, refresh rate and image-quality settings.
- Compare trustworthy tests under matching conditions, separating native rendering from DLSS and frame-generation results.
- Compare current prices for specific RTX 5080 and RTX 5070 Ti cards, rather than relying on launch prices or dated offers.
- Check the exact board’s physical dimensions, connectors and PSU guidance against your case and power supply.
- Choose the 5080 only if its observed benefit for your use is worth the actual price premium; otherwise, the lower-priced 5070 Ti is the stronger value choice.
