The AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT is the strongest alternative to the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti for most gaming comparisons: TechSpot’s 52-game test found them nearly even overall, with a small RTX lead at 1440p and native 4K. The RTX 5070 Ti is the stronger fit for many demanding ray-tracing and path-tracing workloads; the RX 9070 XT can be better value when its price is substantially lower. If you want to spend less and accept lower performance, consider the Radeon RX 9070.
How the RX 9070 XT compares with the RTX 5070 Ti
In TechSpot’s 2026 comparison across 52 games, the RTX 5070 Ti was about 1.4% faster on average at 1440p and about 4% faster at native 4K. Those are aggregate results for that review’s games and settings, not a promise of the same lead in every title. As TechSpot reviewer Steven Walton put it: “At the end of the day, these GPUs are very evenly matched overall, something clearly reflected in the 52-game average data.” TechSpot’s benchmark update includes the methodology and individual game results.

Rasterized games
For games without ray tracing, the RX 9070 XT is highly competitive and can beat the RTX card in individual titles. Which one is faster depends on the game, resolution, and settings; the overall averages should not be read as a universal ranking.
Ray tracing and path tracing
The RTX 5070 Ti is generally more compelling in demanding ray-tracing and path-tracing cases in TechSpot’s comparison, though results vary by game. Treat path tracing as a particularly heavy workload rather than assuming every ray-traced game will show the same gap.

Power and memory
In the cited TechSpot testing, the RX 9070 XT typically used about 20% more power than the RTX 5070 Ti. That is a test observation, not a fixed specification for every board or workload. AMD lists 16 GB of GDDR6 memory and FSR 4 support for both the RX 9070 XT and RX 9070; these are manufacturer-listed features, not evidence that the cards perform identically. See AMD’s RX 9070 XT product page and its gaming graphics benchmarks page.
US price snapshots and value
Published US price snapshots favor the RX 9070 XT, but they are dated and not live quotes. TechSpot’s May 2026 article cited approximate prices of $700 for the RX 9070 XT and $1,000 for the RTX 5070 Ti. Tom’s Hardware’s October 2026 table listed median street prices of $759 and $1,099, respectively. The RX 9070 was listed at a $634 median street price in that October table. Check current local pricing, taxes, stock, and the exact board model before buying; a gap that has narrowed may change which card is better value. Tom’s Hardware’s GPU hierarchy provides the dated performance and price table.

Other card to consider: Radeon RX 9070
The RX 9070 is a lower-cost alternative if the RX 9070 XT and RTX 5070 Ti are above your budget. Tom’s Hardware’s October 2026 gaming averages place it below the XT, as does its median street price. AMD lists 16 GB GDDR6 and FSR 4 support for the RX 9070 as well, but matching memory capacity does not mean matching gaming performance. Choose it when the lower price matters more than the XT’s higher benchmark averages.

- Choose the RX 9070 XT if you want performance close to the RTX 5070 Ti in broad gaming comparisons and find it meaningfully cheaper. It is the clearest alternative for conventional 1440p or 4K gaming when ray tracing is not the deciding factor.
- Choose the RTX 5070 Ti if your games rely heavily on demanding ray tracing or path tracing, or if the RX 9070 XT’s price advantage has disappeared. NVIDIA’s RTX 5070 family page identifies the manufacturer’s product family.
- Choose the RX 9070 if you need a less expensive option and are willing to accept lower performance averages than the XT.
For a specific partner card, check the manufacturer’s listing for dimensions, cooler, power connectors, board power, and warranty. These details vary by model, so the GPU name alone does not establish whether a card fits your case or power supply.
