Personal Roku account password requirements
Roku says a personal-account password should be at least 8 characters long. Its guidance also recommends making the password unique and using a password manager to generate, store, and autofill it. A memorable passphrase made from a sequence of mixed words and characters is another option.

Roku recommends a combination of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols. The support page does not describe each of those character types as mandatory. It also does not specify a maximum length, prohibited characters, or whether spaces are accepted by the live password form, so do not assume the passphrase example confirms that spaces will work.

- Using your account email address as the password.
- Choosing a common phrase, name, date, or keyboard pattern.
- Sharing the password with other people.
Change a password while signed in
If you can sign in and know your current password, Roku’s U.S. support instructions direct you to update it from your account information.

- Sign in to your Roku account.
- Open Account information.
- Enter the new password and confirm it. This route requires your current password.
- Save the changes.
Reset a forgotten password
- On Roku’s account recovery page, request a password reset email for the address associated with your account.
- Open the email and follow its reset link. Roku says the link is valid for 1 hour.
- Enter a new password, then return to my.roku.com and sign in.
If the reset email does not arrive, check your spam or junk folder and make sure you entered the right email address.
Find the email address on your account
If you do not remember which email you used, check a Roku streaming device at Home > Settings > System > About. Roku also says the account email can be found in the account area of the Roku Smart Home app. If you can no longer access the email address, contact Roku Support for help.

Ads Manager has a different password policy
Roku Ads Manager is a business advertising service, not a personal Roku device account. Its Help Center specifies a minimum of 10 characters and requires lowercase and uppercase letters, a number, and a special character. Those rules apply to Ads Manager; do not treat them as the personal-account password requirements.
What Roku’s security guidance says about sign-in protection
In a company security post about credential-stuffing incidents, Roku described resetting passwords for affected accounts and said two-step verification had been enabled for online Roku account logins at the time of publication. That post is historical context, not a complete description of today’s sign-in or verification flow. Roku’s personal-account guidance in that post also recommended a unique password of at least 8 characters.
