It weighs less than one pound, measures 5.4 × 3.3 × 2.1 inches, supports fixed CPAP and two AutoSet modes, and is documented by ResMed as meeting FAA requirements for every phase of air travel. It is not a self-directed substitute for a clinician’s treatment plan, and it has no internal battery: every portable setup needs an appropriate external power source.
What the AirMini is—and what it is not
AirMini is a miniaturized positive-airway-pressure device for people whose OSA diagnosis and therapy settings have already been established. ResMed says it offers three therapy modes: fixed CPAP, AutoSet (APAP), and AutoSet for Her (fAPAP). The device uses the company’s established AirSense algorithms, ActiveAir technology, Bluetooth connectivity, the AirMini app for control, and AirView connectivity for compliance management.

Those features make AirMini a travel or secondary machine rather than a reason to change treatment without medical advice. Your prescribing clinician and the equipment provider that supplies the machine should determine whether the mode and pressure range are appropriate. The provider is also the right point of contact for setup, mask fitting, settings questions, troubleshooting, and compliance-report issues.

Small enough for a carry-on
ResMed publishes dimensions of 5.4 inches wide, 3.3 inches deep, and 2.1 inches high. ResMed describes the unit as weighing less than one pound and fitting in the palm of a hand. That footprint is the central benefit: it leaves room in a carry-on for clothing and other medical equipment, fits on a crowded hotel nightstand, and can serve as a backup to a full-size bedside CPAP.

What the 29 dBA figure means
ResMed lists a 29 dBA pressure level in CPAP mode, with an uncertainty of ±2 dBA. ResMed measured that laboratory specification in 2020 under ISO 80601-2-70:2015. It should not be read as a guarantee that every sleeper will hear exactly 29 dBA. Mask venting, tubing movement, the surface supporting the machine, room acoustics, and your own sensitivity can all change perceived sound.

The AirMini app provides device control over Bluetooth, while AirView connectivity can support remote compliance management when your provider uses it. Do not select a mode, alter pressure limits, or interpret therapy data as a treatment change on your own. If your treatment feels wrong, ask the supplying provider to review the settings and report.
Humidification without a water tank
AirMini uses waterless HumidX technology instead of a conventional humidifier reservoir. That removes the need to carry, fill, empty, and protect a tank during a trip, but it also means the cartridges and masks must match the AirMini system.

ResMed states that waterless humidification is currently unavailable when AirMini is used with AirFit F30. Confirm the cartridge designation before packing spares; a cartridge intended for one mask family is not automatically suitable for another. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for storage, inspection, and replacement rather than treating a cartridge as interchangeable with a standard CPAP humidifier component.

Which masks work with AirMini?
AirMini’s proprietary tubing and venting system are designed around a defined set of masks. ResMed’s compatible list is:
- AirFit P10 for AirMini
- AirFit N30 for AirMini
- AirFit N20
- AirTouch N20
- AirFit F20
- AirTouch F20
- AirFit F30
Mask choice affects comfort, leak behavior, humidification options, and the parts you must carry. Do not assume that any mask with a standard-looking connector will work correctly with AirMini’s tubing and venting. Have an authorized provider confirm the mask, tubing, and HumidX combination before your first night away.
Power, batteries, and airplane use
There is no built-in battery
AirMini cannot run from an internal battery. ResMed’s product FAQ states: “The AirMini does not have a battery. It must be plugged into power to operate.” A portable setup therefore requires a suitable external power solution, not merely a charged phone battery or an unverified adapter.
Cars, boats, camping, and outages
ResMed’s official 65 W DC/DC converter can draw power from a suitable 12 V or 24 V cigarette-lighter socket in a car, boat, or other vehicle. For camping, hotel outages, or other situations without dependable mains power, ResMed advises discussing compatible portable power options with a CPAP equipment supplier. Ask the supplier to verify voltage, wattage, connector compatibility, and expected runtime for the exact battery or power station you plan to use.

Using AirMini on a flight
ResMed says AirMini meets Federal Aviation Administration requirements under RTCA/DO-160, section 21, category M, for all phases of air travel. ResMed also says its switch-mode power supply can use 110 V, 400 Hz aircraft power. That technical capability does not guarantee that every aircraft seat has an available outlet or that every airline uses the same procedure.
Keep the machine, power supply, mask, and prescription documentation in carry-on baggage. Check your airline’s current CPAP and in-flight-power procedures before departure, and ask the airline whether an outlet is available at your seat. Plan for the possibility that you will need to travel without using the device during the flight if power access or crew instructions do not permit operation.
How to prepare and use AirMini on a trip
- Confirm the prescription and mode. Ask your prescribing clinician or supplying equipment provider to verify the prescribed mode, pressure settings, and whether AirMini is appropriate as a travel or secondary device.
- Match the mask system. Select one of the seven ResMed-compatible masks and confirm the corresponding AirMini tubing and HumidX cartridge, if used.
- Arrange power. Pack the standard power supply for hotel use. If you need vehicle or off-grid operation, obtain a provider-approved solution such as the official 65 W DC/DC converter for a compatible 12 V or 24 V socket, or another power option specifically verified for AirMini.
- Test at home. Run the complete mask, tubing, cartridge, power, and app setup for several nights before travel. This exposes leaks, comfort problems, missing adapters, or Bluetooth issues while you still have access to your normal equipment provider.
- Pack critical components together. Keep the machine, power supply, tubing, mask, cartridges, filters, and prescription documentation in carry-on luggage rather than checked baggage.
- Set up at the destination. Place the machine on a stable, ventilated surface, connect the proprietary tubing and compatible mask, and use the AirMini app if your provider has configured app control.
- Document problems. If therapy fails, the device will not power on, or leaks persist, record the mask and cartridge combination and contact the supplying provider. Do not compensate by changing pressure settings yourself.
Price, prescription, coverage, and support
Current U.S. price reference
ResMed’s U.S. e-shop listed the AirMini AutoSet CPAP Machine at $919 when accessed in 2026. The listing marks the machine as prescription required. That is a dated U.S. direct-shop reference, not a universal or permanent street price: ResMed says dealer pricing may vary, and some equipment stores offer financing.
Insurance and health-account eligibility
Whether insurance, a flexible spending account (FSA), or a health savings account (HSA) can be used depends on the specific plan or employer administrator. Ask for a coverage determination before purchase, and confirm whether the plan treats a compact secondary machine differently from a primary CPAP.

Why the equipment provider matters
ResMed assigns ongoing clinical support to the CPAP equipment store that supplied the device. That provider can fulfill the prescription, fit the mask, configure therapy, troubleshoot the system, and answer compliance-report questions. Using an authorized provider is particularly important because AirMini’s mask, tubing, cartridge, and power combinations are not generic.
Accessories and total ownership cost
The machine price is only one part of a travel setup. ResMed’s AirMini collection lists HumidX cartridges, replacement filters, AirMini tubing, a premium travel bag, a hard travel case, and a DC converter. The accessories page emphasizes that the tubing is specifically for AirMini machines.
Before buying, make a component list that includes the compatible mask, at least the tubing required for your setup, cartridges if you use waterless humidification, replacement filters, the AC power supply, and any vehicle or portable-power accessory. Ask the provider which consumables are included in the quoted price and which are sold separately. This prevents a low device price from turning into an unusable first trip because a proprietary part is missing.

Maintenance and storage
- Use only AirMini-compatible tubing and the cartridge type specified for your mask.
- Inspect tubing, mask seals, cartridge condition, and filter condition before each trip.
- Keep the machine and accessories protected in a travel bag or hard case during transport.
- Follow ResMed’s cleaning, drying, storage, and replacement instructions for every component; do not substitute a conventional water tank or incompatible tubing.
- Carry spare filters and the parts needed to recover from a damaged or misplaced cartridge or tube.
Because AirMini is waterless, you do not need distilled water for its HumidX system. That does not eliminate all consumable maintenance: cartridges and filters remain model-specific components whose condition and replacement should follow ResMed’s instructions.

Common problems and practical fixes
The machine will not start
Check that the power connector is fully seated, the correct power supply is being used, and the outlet or vehicle socket is active. If you are using a battery or power station, verify that its output has been approved for AirMini by your equipment provider. The device cannot start from an internal battery because it has none.
Dryness or uncomfortable airflow
Confirm that the HumidX cartridge matches the mask family and that your mask is one of the compatible models. AirFit F30 does not currently support waterless humidification, according to ResMed. If discomfort continues, ask the provider to review mask fit and therapy settings rather than changing pressure yourself.
Excessive noise or leaks
The 29 dBA figure is a laboratory pressure-level specification, not a promise about every bedroom. Check mask fit, tubing connections, vent clearance, and placement on a stable surface. Persistent leaks or unusual sounds warrant a provider review, especially if they occur only with a particular mask or cartridge combination.

The app or compliance data is not connecting
Confirm Bluetooth is enabled, the machine is powered, and the AirMini app is paired with the intended device. If AirView compliance information is missing, contact the supplying equipment store; it controls the clinical-support workflow and can determine whether the problem is pairing, account setup, or transmission.
Who should buy AirMini?
AirMini is a strong fit when you already use prescribed PAP therapy and prioritize the smallest practical machine for flights, hotels, work travel, or occasional backup use. Its under-one-pound weight, palm-sized dimensions, waterless humidification, and documented aircraft compliance directly address those situations.
It is a weaker fit if you require a built-in battery, rely on a mask outside ResMed’s compatibility list, want a conventional water humidifier, or expect a device that can be configured without clinician or provider involvement. In those cases, compare alternatives using the factors that affect real-world therapy: size and weight, available modes, mask and humidification compatibility, power and battery runtime, aircraft approval, noise specification, prescription and support arrangements, and the full cost of tubing, filters, cartridges, masks, and power accessories.
