Resident Evil: The Other Survivors has not been verified as an official Capcom announcement. The project is a fan-made, single-player mod for Resident Evil 2, created by ALSOP and documented on ModDB. It follows original characters Frank Williams and Keith Deadman during the 1998 Raccoon City outbreak, with a release date still listed as to be determined.
What The Other Survivors is
The Other Survivors is an in-development Resident Evil 2 modification rather than a newly announced standalone game. ALSOP’s ModDB project page presents it as a single-player experience built around two original protagonists. ALSOP’s ModDB page does not identify a Capcom announcement, publisher release plan, or official Resident Evil product listing, so “officially announced” should not be read as a claim of Capcom involvement.

The story begins on September 29, 1998, as the Raccoon City outbreak is unfolding. A radio call from Raccoon High School sends the characters toward an informant hidden among the faculty and evidence connected to Umbrella. Keith’s campaign also uses flashbacks to July 1998 at the Spencer Estate. The creator says both scenarios use Leon’s game data, but has not published a final compatibility or installation requirements list.

The two campaigns are designed around different ways of finding and managing supplies. ALSOP describes these systems, and no finished public build is identified.
#1 Best Overall
- TERRIFYING ZOMBIES WAITING AROUND EVERY CORNER -- Driven by insatiable hunger, these creatures act on instinct, gnashing their teeth, ripping at flesh, and devouring their victims. The new immersive camera lets you feel their fangs as they sink into your flesh.
- RACCOON CITY, REBUILT IN INTRICATE DETAIL -- The characters, environments, and story have all been rebuilt from the ground up to create a terrifying world that feels both nostalgic and new.
- NEW FOR PLAYSTATION5 – Upgraded features new to the PlayStation5 version of the game include a higher frame rate, 3D audio, added ray tracing, and engaging DualSense support for Haptic Feedback and Adaptive Triggers.
| Character | Story timeline | Resource approach described by ALSOP |
|---|---|---|
| Frank Williams | September 29, 1998, during the Raccoon City outbreak | Finds weapons and ammunition on police bodies and in SWAT vehicles. |
| Keith Deadman | September 1998 events with flashbacks to July 1998 at the Spencer Estate | Uses visible and hidden supplies placed around rooms; starts with a customized Glock 19. |
The differing supply rules suggest that the campaigns are intended to feel distinct even though they draw on Leon’s underlying game data. Until a playable release is available, details such as enemy behavior, map changes, save systems, difficulty, and total play time remain unconfirmed.
Development status as of September 23, 2026
In a September 23, 2026 ModDB update, ALSOP said the core route from the mod’s beginning to its intended ending was complete and that all puzzles had been finished. Cutscenes and other implementation work were still outstanding. The creator described that state as the core of version 1.0, while mentioning a possible later version 1.1.

That statement indicates substantial progress, but it is not a finished-release announcement. A completed route and puzzle set can still require significant work on cinematics, scripting, testing, packaging, compatibility, and bug fixes.

- Amazon Exclusive - 2 sided poster included in every game!
- Grace Ashcroft, an FBI intelligence analyst who is introverted and easily scared, representing a new type of character for the Resident Evil series. Grace will experience horror from the same perspective as the player as she learns to overcome her fears throughout the course of the story.
- For the first time ever in Resident Evil history, players will be able to freely switch between both first- and third-person perspectives throughout the game.
- An Anniversary to Remember: With March 2026 marking the Resident Evil series’ 30-year anniversary, Resident Evil Requiem marks its own milestone in the franchise.
- Pre-orders for Resident Evil Requiem are now open, with the bonus of Grace’s costume: Apocalypse. Please note that the picture weapon does not come with the costume, but it can be obtained in-game.
Release date and demo: what is actually confirmed
ModDB’s release-date field currently says to be determined. In a ModDB comment, a reader asked, “Is there a release date so I can download it?” The creator replied that the date was still to be determined. There is therefore no confirmed date for version 1.0.
A GenerationAmiga report dated October 4, 2026 described a demo as planned, but gave neither a demo date nor a finished-release date. “Planned” does not mean the demo is available to download. Check the creator’s ModDB page for a new file entry or dated announcement before attempting installation.

- Survival horror returns - A brand new tale in the Resident Evil Revelations saga comes to current and next generation gaming consoles
- Clare Redfield and Moira Burton star - Fan favorite Claire returns to the horrors that haunted her in the past alongside Moira Burton, daughter of Resident Evil legend Barry Burton.
- Evil is watching - Set in what appears to be an abandoned detention facility on a remote island, the horror awaits players around every dark corner. Will there be a way to escape?
- A brand new type of enemy - Not as mindless as zombies, the scary design of the 'Afflicted' means they are able to move quickly and attack the player with basic weapons, making them a genuine threat to players' survival.
- Assistive co-op play - Players will need to switch between the two characters to overcome the nightmares in either single player mode with an AI partner or offline co-op. Utilize Moira's torch to temporarily blind the enemy before Claire takes them out!
What you will need when it releases
The mod’s creator identifies the original Resident Evil 2 game as its base, but has not specified a required retail edition or confirmed current product availability. The project page also does not yet provide a final operating-system, emulator, patch, hardware, or file-version checklist.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →- Obtain a legally owned copy of the specific Resident Evil 2 edition named in the eventual installation instructions.
- Wait for a published requirements list before assuming that a particular PC build, console version, emulator, or fan patch will work.
- Download only from a release page controlled by the project creator or a clearly identified official mirror.
- Read the version notes carefully; a demo, version 1.0, and a later 1.1 build may have different installation steps or compatibility.
Do not treat screenshots, a project listing, or discussion comments as proof that a downloadable build is ready. A genuine release should include a file, version identifier, installation instructions, and any required base-game details.

Why the “officially announced” wording is misleading
In games coverage, “officially announced” normally means the publisher or rights holder has publicly revealed a project. The project is documented on ALSOP’s creator-maintained ModDB page, with reporting about the planned demo. That supports calling it an announced fan project or in-development mod, not an official Capcom title.
This distinction matters for expectations. A fan mod can change direction, pause development, or remain unreleased without the schedules, support obligations, or marketing channels associated with a publisher-backed game. It also means that compatibility, distribution rights, and access to the base game must be clarified by the mod team rather than assumed from the Resident Evil name.
What to watch for next
The most meaningful future update would be a dated release post accompanied by a downloadable build and precise requirements. Until then, the project’s established milestones are:
