Turn off your QLED TV and gently wipe its screen with a clean, soft microfiber cloth. If a mark remains, check the cleaning instructions for your exact model; Samsung’s US guidance allows distilled water on the cloth, not sprayed onto the screen. Use as little pressure as possible and dry any moisture with a clean cloth.
Clean a QLED screen step by step
- Turn off the TV. Samsung’s US instructions say to let the set cool for a few minutes, then unplug it before cleaning. Follow your model’s manual if its instructions differ.
- Wipe with a clean, dry microfiber cloth. Use a soft cloth reserved for the screen and frame. Move it gently across the surface; do not scrub or press hard. Samsung cautions that TV screens are fragile and can be damaged by excessive pressure.
- For a stubborn mark, check your model’s instructions. Samsung’s US and Singapore guidance permits distilled water if dry wiping is not enough. Put a small amount on the cloth so it is only lightly damp, then wipe gently. Do not spray liquid directly onto the TV.
- Remove any moisture. Use a second clean, dry microfiber cloth to dry the screen. If you unplugged the TV, wait until the screen is completely dry before reconnecting it.
- Stop if the mark remains. Do not escalate to solvents or an unverified screen-cleaning solution. Consult the exact model’s official instructions or contact the manufacturer.
Samsung’s US instructions recommend microfiber and describe distilled water as a next step, while Samsung’s UK guidance advises against solvent cleaners. Regional advice can vary, so the manual for your specific set is the best guide when a dry cloth does not work. What not to use on a QLED screen
Samsung warns against window cleaner, soap, scouring powder, wax, and cleaners containing solvents such as alcohol, benzene, ammonia or acetone. Avoid abrasive pads and paper towels, which can scratch the screen or damage its anti-glare coating. Never spray water or cleaner directly onto the display, and do not apply strong pressure.

Cleaning advice for one television model does not automatically apply to another. Sony’s care guidance includes a narrow alcohol-cleaning exception for specified BRAVIA 9 II models after gentler steps; that exception is not evidence that alcohol is suitable for Samsung QLED screens. Check the instructions for your own TV before using any chemical cleaner or commercial screen wipe. Sony’s TV care guidance describes its model-specific procedure.

What to keep on hand
- A clean, soft microfiber cloth: This is the recommended starting point for routine screen and frame cleaning. Choose a lint-free cloth and keep it clean so grit or debris does not get dragged across the display.
- Distilled water: This is an optional next step only where the instructions for your model allow it. Apply it to the cloth, never directly to the screen.
A branded cleaning kit or liquid is not required for the basic procedure. Check the TV manufacturer’s instructions before using any included spray or wipes.
