In Notebookcheck’s October 2026 test, it averaged 27.3 fps in Genshin Impact at the lowest tested setting, versus 17 fps at the highest; results were stronger in PUBG Mobile and Dead Trigger 2. Those numbers make this a casual-gaming tablet, not a guaranteed high-frame-rate device.
What the Redmi Pad 2 9.7 gaming test found
Notebookcheck’s Marcus Herbrich tested three Android games on the 9.7-inch model. The results varied substantially by game and graphics setting:

| Game and setting | Average frame rate | Observed range |
|---|---|---|
| Genshin Impact, lowest tested setting | 27.3 fps | 9–36 fps |
| Genshin Impact, highest tested setting | 17 fps | 5–19 fps |
| PUBG Mobile | 47.6 fps | 28–51 fps |
| Dead Trigger 2 | 57.6 fps | 41–60 fps |
Notebookcheck reported that Genshin Impact was playable only at minimum detail, and its test could not enable the HD setting in PUBG Mobile. The averages and ranges are results from that test, not promises for other software builds, regions or sessions. Three games cannot establish how every Android title will perform. Read Notebookcheck’s test and its methodology context.
What those results mean for play
Good fit: lighter games
Games that are less demanding are the tablet’s stronger use case. Dead Trigger 2 averaged 57.6 fps in Notebookcheck’s test, while PUBG Mobile averaged 47.6 fps, though neither figure guarantees the same performance in every match or configuration. Herbrich’s article says, “Leichte Spielekost ist aber mit dem Redmi-Pad durchaus möglich” — “lighter gaming is certainly possible with the Redmi Pad” (translation).

Compromised fit: demanding games

Not a tested handheld replacement
The device is an Android tablet with a touchscreen, not a dedicated handheld with integrated gaming controls. Notebookcheck did not compare it directly with a named gaming handheld or test its ergonomics with a controller attached. Treat the question of controls and comfort as a personal preference, not a proven advantage for either type of device.

Screen refresh rate is not game frame rate
Xiaomi Singapore lists a 9.7-inch display with 2048 × 1280 resolution and a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. That is the panel’s maximum refresh specification; it does not mean a game will render at 120 frames per second. The measured results above show why the distinction matters: performance depends on the game, setting and test conditions.
The same regional specifications list touch sampling up to 180 Hz and typical brightness of 500 nits, rising to 600 nits in outdoor mode. These are manufacturer specifications, and actual availability or specifications can vary by region. See Xiaomi Singapore’s Redmi Pad 2 9.7 specifications.

Hardware and storage
Xiaomi Singapore lists the 9.7-inch model with a Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2 platform and Adreno 610 graphics. Listed memory and storage configurations are 4 GB RAM with 64 GB or 128 GB storage. Confirm which configuration is sold in your country before buying.
Xiaomi Malaysia says storage can be expanded up to 2 TB with a separately purchased microSD card. That is the manufacturer’s stated maximum; check local availability and card compatibility for the specific model. Xiaomi’s page also depicts a tri-fold protective case sold separately, but does not establish a particular regional retailer listing. See Xiaomi Malaysia’s product page.

Battery and charging: what is—and is not—known
Xiaomi specifies a typical 7600 mAh battery and 18 W fast charging for the model; its Singapore specifications say a 15 W adapter is included in the box. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent gaming-runtime measurements. Notebookcheck’s reviewed gaming results do not report how long the tablet lasts while playing, so the battery capacity alone cannot tell you how many hours of gaming to expect.

Quick Recap
Should you buy it for gaming?
- Consider it if you want a compact Android tablet for casual games and accept that demanding titles may need low settings and can run at modest frame rates.
- Look elsewhere if your main requirement is smooth performance in demanding games, integrated handheld controls or independently verified gaming battery life. The evidence here does not establish those capabilities.
- Before ordering, verify the 9.7-inch model, local RAM and storage configuration, regional price, and microSD-card compatibility. The 120 Hz display rating is not a guarantee of 120 fps gameplay.
