Which controller has the rear controls you want?
Wolverine V4 Pro: four removable buttons plus two bumpers
Razer describes four magnetic rear buttons that can be removed, as well as two extra bumpers positioned for a claw grip. That gives you more kinds of rear and upper-rear inputs to consider than the four-paddle arrangement documented for the Elite. Whether the shape and placement feel natural depends on how you hold a controller; no hands-on comfort comparison is established.

Elite Series 2: four paddles
The Elite’s four paddles are interchangeable. If you already know you like paddles, or prefer that form over small back buttons, the Elite presents a straightforward option. The number of controls alone does not establish which layout is faster or more comfortable for a particular player.

Elite Series 2: tune the stick resistance
Microsoft documents three manual tension settings for the Elite’s thumbsticks, along with interchangeable stick tops. The Xbox Accessories app also provides sensitivity curves. This makes the Elite the more clearly documented choice if you want to change how much resistance the sticks have or tune their response in software.

Wolverine V4 Pro: sensor and cap options
Razer highlights capacitive contactless thumbstick sensors, interchangeable caps and adjustable dead zones. Those are different kinds of customization from manually changing stick tension. Razer’s drift-resistance language should not be read as a guarantee that drift cannot occur.
How do their triggers differ?
The Wolverine’s advertised trigger actuation range is 1.3 mm to 8.2 mm, and Razer says you can switch between a short and full-range pull. That range of adjustment may suit someone who wants to configure trigger travel for different uses, including racing games that call for more of the pull.

The Elite Series 2 has trigger locks for a shorter pull. Microsoft’s specifications establish the locks, but do not describe the same millimetre adjustment range. These are distinct control options, not evidence that one controller’s triggers perform better.

Wolverine V4 Pro
Razer presents the Wolverine V4 Pro as a wireless Xbox and PC controller and says it supports Steam natively. Its October 6, 2026 announcement claims up to 8,000 Hz polling on PC, wired or wireless, and up to 250 Hz on Xbox Series X|S. Those are Razer-published specifications, not independent comparative measurements. Razer also attributes a figure of approximately 3,000 movement steps to use of its HyperSpeed wireless dongle connected to a PC at 8,000 Hz polling.

Elite Series 2
Microsoft lists Xbox consoles, Windows PCs and select mobile devices, with connection methods and features varying by host. Windows 10 and 11 can connect by Bluetooth, the included USB cable or a separately sold Xbox Wireless adapter. Windows 7 and 8.1 require the included cable and have limited functionality. Xbox Wireless connects to Xbox consoles. Android and iOS Bluetooth support is limited to select devices and versions, and some functions may not be supported. Check the requirements for your exact device and game on Microsoft’s compatibility page.

“Elite Series 2” listings may refer to the full package or the Series 2 Core, which includes fewer accessories. Compare the box contents, not just the controller name: the full package includes a dock, cable, paddles, extra sticks, an additional D-pad, an adjustment tool and a case.
Current street prices and availability vary by market and date, and a comparable current price for both controllers is not established here. Check local retailer listings at the time you buy, and confirm whether an Elite listing is the full Series 2 or Core before comparing value.

Recommendation: buy for the controls you will actually use
Choose the Wolverine V4 Pro if…
- You specifically want four removable magnetic rear buttons plus two claw-grip bumpers.
- You want Razer’s advertised trigger actuation adjustment and short/full-pull switch.
- You play on PC and the vendor’s high polling-rate claim is a feature you value, while recognizing it has not been independently compared here.
- You want its onboard profiles, interchangeable caps or native Steam support.
Choose the Elite Series 2 if…
- You want manually adjustable stick tension and app-based sensitivity curves.
- You prefer four paddles.
- You want the full package’s charging dock and range of included interchangeable parts.
- You want Microsoft’s stated battery figure of up to 40 hours per charge, with actual results varying by use and other factors.
