The original Razer Basilisk V3 Pro is a feature-rich, right-handed wireless gaming mouse whose standout strengths are flexible connectivity, 11 programmable buttons, and a wheel that switches between notched and free-spinning modes. Its main trade-offs are a 112 g weight and battery life that drops sharply in 8,000 Hz mode. It suits people who want abundant controls for gaming and desktop work better than buyers who prioritize a very light mouse.
What are the pros and cons of the Razer Basilisk V3 Pro?
| Pros | Cons and caveats |
|---|---|
| 11 programmable buttons for customized controls | 112 g excluding cable; not an especially light choice for rapid, frequent repositioning |
| Four-way tilt wheel with electronically switched notched and free-spin modes | Battery estimates vary significantly by connection and polling rate |
| HyperSpeed wireless, Bluetooth, and wired USB-C connectivity | The Mouse Dock Pro and Wireless Charging Puck are optional, separately sold accessories |
| Feature set that can serve both gaming and productivity | Fit and button reach depend on hand size; direct reach testing cited here is for the 35K revision, not this original model |
These are the original Basilisk V3 Pro’s specifications and trade-offs, not those of the newer Basilisk V3 Pro 35K. Razer lists a Focus Pro 30K sensor for the original; the 35K revision has an updated sensor and different advertised battery figures. Razer’s original product page and RTINGS’ 35K review distinguish the models.

What are the main advantages?
Controls for games and everyday shortcuts
The original has 11 programmable buttons, giving users room to assign game commands, application shortcuts, or other inputs. That breadth is useful if you will configure and use the extra controls; it is less compelling if you prefer a simple, minimal layout.
A wheel that handles precision and long scrolling
The four-way HyperScroll tilt wheel combines side-to-side input with two scrolling behaviors: notched movement for controlled increments and free-spinning movement for covering long pages or documents quickly. In games, the notched mode can help when cycling through discrete items; in office or browsing use, free spin can reduce repeated wheel turns. Razer describes these modes as product features, not as independent test results.

Three ways to connect
You can use Razer HyperSpeed wireless, Bluetooth, or wired USB-C. This gives the mouse options for a low-cable gaming setup, a Bluetooth connection, or wired use when charging or when you prefer a cable.
A broad specification set
Razer lists a maximum 30,000 DPI, 750 IPS tracking speed, 70 G acceleration, five onboard memory profiles, and switches rated for a 90-million-click lifecycle. These are manufacturer specifications, not a guarantee that every player will benefit from the maximum sensor figures or reach the stated switch lifecycle in use.

- 13-ZONE CHROMA LIGHTING WITH FULL UNDERGLOW — Customize each zone from over 16.8 million colors and countless lighting effects, and experience greater immersion as they react dynamically with over 200 Chroma-integrated games
What are the main disadvantages?
It is heavy compared with lightweight-focused mice
Razer lists the original at 112 g (3.95 oz), excluding cable. That weight can be a drawback for players who make frequent, fast aim adjustments or simply prefer a lighter mouse. It is a preference and play-style trade-off, not proof that the shape will feel uncomfortable to every user.
Battery life depends on connection and polling mode
Razer advertises maximum battery durations for specific modes. These are manufacturer claims, not typical-use measurements:
Rank #3
- ICONIC ERGONOMIC DESIGN WITH THUMB REST — PC gaming mouse favored by millions worldwide with a form factor that perfectly supports the hand while its buttons are optimally positioned for quick and easy access
- 11 PROGRAMMABLE BUTTONS — Assign macros and secondary functions across 11 programmable buttons to execute essential actions like push-to-talk, ping, and more
- HYPERSCROLL TILT WHEEL — Speed through content with a scroll wheel that free-spins until its stopped or switch to tactile mode for more precision and satisfying feedback that’s ideal for cycling through weapons or skills
- 11 RAZER CHROMA RGB LIGHTING ZONES — Customize each zone from over 16.8 million colors and countless lighting effects, all while it reacts dynamically with over 150 Chroma integrated games
- OPTICAL MOUSE SWITCHES GEN 2 — With zero unintended misclicks these switches provide crisp, responsive execution at a blistering 0.2ms actuation speed for up to 70 million clicks
| Mode | Razer’s advertised maximum | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| HyperSpeed at 1,000 Hz | Up to 110 hours | At constant motion, per Razer |
| Bluetooth | Up to 150 hours | Manufacturer maximum; no constant-motion condition is stated on the product page |
| 8,000 Hz polling | Up to 32 hours | At constant motion, using the HyperPolling Wireless Dongle and Mouse Dock Pro, per Razer |
The shorter 8,000 Hz estimate matters if you intend to use that polling mode: it is not simply a free performance setting with the same endurance. The Mouse Dock Pro and Wireless Charging Puck are sold separately, so do not assume dock charging or the associated accessory setup is included with the mouse.
Fit and button reach are personal
The right-handed shape and side controls are worth considering against your grip and hand size. RTINGS’ review of the Basilisk V3 Pro 35K—not the original—found that smaller hands may have difficulty reaching the frontmost side button. RTINGS also characterized that revision as comfortable and supportive overall, while noting its weight. Those observations offer useful family-level context, but they are not direct test findings for the original V3 Pro.

Is the Razer Basilisk V3 Pro worth buying?
It is a plausible choice if you want a substantial right-handed mouse with many programmable controls, flexible scrolling, and a choice of wireless or wired connection. The case is weaker if low weight is your top priority, you do not need extra buttons or wheel modes, or you expect long battery life while using 8,000 Hz polling.

The revised model shares a very similar shape and feature set, according to RTINGS, but it has an updated sensor and its own advertised battery figures; those figures should not be applied to the original.
