Connect the antenna cable to the TV’s rear antenna input, then run Auto Tuning to find and save available broadcast channels. On LG TVs with webOS 6.0 or later, go to Settings → All Settings → General → Channels → Channel Tuning → Auto Tuning. On webOS 5.0 and earlier, use Settings → All Settings → Channels → Channel Tuning → Auto Tuning. Menu labels and ports vary by model.
Connect the antenna to the correct input
- Turn to the back of the TV and locate the antenna input. Attach the antenna cable securely.
- If the TV has separate antenna inputs and you are setting up for UHD broadcasts, LG says to use the port labeled UHD TV Antenna. If there is only one antenna input, connect the cable there.
- For UHD reception, LG recommends placing the antenna near a window to minimize signal interference. Reception depends on local signal conditions and the installation, so that placement is a suggestion rather than a guarantee.
LG’s connection and placement instructions are in its TV support guidance. Port labels and locations can differ; check the manual for your exact model if the rear panel does not match.

Run Auto Tuning to find channels
After connecting the antenna, start a channel scan and let it finish. The TV searches for channels it can receive and saves them to its channel list.
LG TVs with webOS 6.0 or later

LG TVs with webOS 5.0 or earlier
Open Settings → All Settings → Channels → Channel Tuning → Auto Tuning, then start the scan.
LG’s current guidance distinguishes TVs released in 2021 or later from 2020 or earlier, but these are general paths, not a promise that every model uses identical wording. Older sets may use labels such as “CHANNEL,” “SETUP,” or “EZ Scan.” Use the exact model’s manual or support page if the listed path does not appear. LG notes that support-page images and content can vary by model.

If the TV finds no channels or reception is weak
- No channels found: Check that the cable is firmly attached to the TV and that you used the correct antenna input. Then run Auto Tuning again. Scanning before connecting the antenna will not search the new connection.
- UHD channels are missing: If your TV has a dedicated “UHD TV Antenna” port, check that the antenna is connected to it. UHD broadcasts must also be available in your area.
- Weak or inconsistent reception: Try a different antenna position; for UHD reception, LG suggests near a window. If available, use Manual Tuning to inspect signal strength and quality.
- The menu does not match: Check the TV’s webOS version and model-specific manual or support page rather than applying a menu path from another generation.
- You use a set-top box: These Auto Tuning steps are for an antenna connected directly to the TV. LG says a set-top-box setup does not require running Auto Tuning for the box.
If Auto Tuning will not proceed despite a secure connection and usable signal, LG recommends contacting support. Its troubleshooting guidance is available through the LG support library.

Legacy LG owner manuals describe automatic scans as finding available antenna or cable channels and storing them in the channel list. They may call the scan “EZ Scan” or place it under a “SETUP” or “CHANNEL” menu. The underlying purpose is similar, but do not assume an older menu path applies to a newer webOS TV; follow the instructions for your model.
