Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsIf your Raspberry Pi stream stopped starting after you changed or reset your YouTube stream key, replace the saved key in the encoder configuration with the current one from YouTube Studio, save it, and restart the encoder. The exact file or setting depends on whether you use FFmpeg, OBS, a Pi-specific image, or another encoder.
Update the stream key on your Raspberry Pi
- Copy the current key from YouTube Studio. Open YouTube Studio, go to Go Live / Live Control Room, and select Stream. Copy the stream key currently shown there. YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance says to get a new key in Live Control Room and update the encoder when it reports a startup error (YouTube Help: Troubleshoot your YouTube live stream).
- Update the key where your encoder actually reads it. Replace the old value in the active encoder settings, configuration file, service, or launch script. The precise location varies by setup; don’t assume a particular path or command without identifying your encoder and how it was configured.
- Save the change and restart the encoder. Restart the process or service using the method appropriate to your installation. Then check Live Control Room for incoming-stream status.
Treat the stream key like a password: it identifies where your encoder sends its feed and lets YouTube accept it. Don’t share it in screenshots, public logs, or public code repositories (YouTube Help).

If the new key does not fix the stream
Verify the active settings and stream URL
Make sure the running encoder is using the configuration you changed, rather than a second copy or an old service setting. Check that the stream URL and key are a matching pair from Live Control Room. If you use RTMPS, confirm that the encoder supports RTMPS and that its URL uses that protocol. YouTube notes that Live Control Room may show ordinary RTMP by default; a protocol or URL mismatch, or an encoder without RTMPS support, can prevent a connection (YouTube Help: Encrypt your stream using RTMPS).
Check the encoder and the Pi’s workload
Update the encoder software if an update is available, check its preview or stream output, and review its error messages and CPU load. A Raspberry Pi’s CPU load is worth checking, but it is not evidence by itself that the Pi is underpowered. YouTube also recommends checking the outbound connection when local audio and video look healthy (YouTube Help: Troubleshoot your YouTube live stream).

Separate a connection failure from a broadcast-start problem
Use the encoder’s status and Live Control Room together. If the encoder fails locally before it connects, revisit its saved key, URL, and configuration. If it connects but the broadcast does not begin, check the scheduled stream’s settings and your channel’s permissions. YouTube’s auto-start and auto-stop settings affect whether an encoder can start or stop a stream; reused stream settings can carry those selections forward (YouTube Help: Manage live stream settings). Permission errors such as liveStreamingNotEnabled or livePermissionBlocked are separate possible causes, not proof that changing the key caused an eligibility problem (YouTube Live Streaming API: Errors).
Test the outbound connection if the stream is unstable
If the encoder appears healthy but Live Control Room shows an unstable incoming stream, investigate the Pi’s outbound network connection and available capacity. A valid key does not rule out encoder errors, high CPU load, software issues, or network problems.

- KEEP YOUR PROCESSOR COOL: The busier a processor gets the more it heats up, leading to sub-optimal performance. To prevent this common issue, this kit includes an aluminum alloy case with a pre-installed fan. The aluminum alloy actively draws the heat from the pi board, while the fan further cools the board and case. These cooling mechanisms will help push the limits of your processor and increase its flexibility.
- SIZABLE RAM: This Raspberry Pi 4 comes equipped with 4GB of RAM, which is the same amount of RAM or more RAM than many mainstream laptops contain. With 4GB of RAM, your processor will be capable of running retro gaming setups and common computer applications, media players, and much more!
- SIMPLE TO TURN ON & OFF: This kit includes a USB-C Raspberry Pi 4 compatible power supply with an easy-to-use on/off switch that was designed specifically for the Raspberry Pi 4 model to streamline processing.
- IMPROVEMENTS FROM PREVIOUS MODELS: This latest model of the Raspberry Pi 4 offers groundbreaking increases in processor speed, multimedia performance, connectivity, memory, and more! The desktop performance of this model is comparable to entry-level x86 PC systems.
- VERSATILE USE: The Raspberry Pi may have a small processor, but it is a highly adaptable little computer that can replace your desktop PC. Its functions range from practical to nostalgic since it can power an ad-blocking server as easily as it can power an outmoded gaming setup. Other uses include but are not limited to printing from non-wireless printers, playing media, making time-lapse videos, and building multiplayer network game servers and motion-capture security systems.
