For a YouTube broadcast created through Gyre’s channel-authorization workflow, set the title and thumbnail in Gyre when you create the stream. Gyre says you can edit the title later in Gyre; for thumbnail changes, check the controls available for that stream rather than assuming every live stream supports replacing its image. If you created or manage the broadcast in YouTube Studio, use the editing route for its stream type.
Change a title or thumbnail on a Gyre-managed YouTube stream
Gyre’s documented channel-authorization workflow lets you create a broadcast on a connected YouTube channel and pass in its title, description, tags, and thumbnail. Gyre also says an existing stream’s title can be edited later in Gyre.

- Connect the channel: In Gyre, select YouTube and authorize the channel if you are using channel authorization.
- Set the stream details: When creating the broadcast, enter its title and other parameters, including the thumbnail.
- Edit an existing title: Open the stream’s editing controls in Gyre and change the title. Gyre confirms that the title can be edited later.
- Check before changing an existing thumbnail: Open that stream’s edit screen and inspect the current thumbnail controls. The documented workflow establishes that a thumbnail can be supplied when creating a broadcast, but does not establish a universal way to replace the image while every type of stream is live. Gyre also describes manual stream creation for advanced YouTube Studio configurations. If you created the broadcast there, use the YouTube route below rather than assuming its controls match Gyre’s.

Edit YouTube encoder or mobile stream details
YouTube Help covers metadata editing during setup, after scheduling, or from the stream settings page. This route applies to encoder or mobile streams, not the webcam workflow.

- While creating the stream, enter or adjust its metadata; alternatively, open the scheduled stream.
- To edit an existing stream, go to its stream settings and click Edit.
- Change the available details and save them.

Edit a YouTube webcam stream
YouTube’s webcam setup uses a separate Live Control Room route. Its guide says the settings can be changed while the stream is live or not live, and documents the camera taking a thumbnail during setup. That does not establish that every active webcam stream can have its thumbnail replaced with a custom upload.
- Open the stream in YouTube’s Live Control Room.
- Click Edit to manage the available settings.
- Make the changes offered for that stream and save.

Change the thumbnail or title on an archived live video
An archived replay is a published video, so edit it through its video details rather than treating that page as the active stream’s control panel.

What to check if the thumbnail option is missing
- Confirm where the broadcast was created. A Gyre-authorized broadcast, an encoder or mobile stream in YouTube Studio, and a webcam stream use distinct documented workflows.
- Confirm whether you are editing an active stream or its replay. The video Details editor applies to the published video; it does not establish controls for every active stream.
- Inspect the stream’s own Edit or Customize controls. Available thumbnail options depend on the stream workflow. The cited guides do not establish a universal custom-image replacement path or how quickly a changed thumbnail appears.
