Rarity labels a Champion Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, or Legendary. Rank determines its maximum level and can be upgraded using same-Rank Champions or Chickens. The two systems are separate, and Ascension stars are a third, distinct indicator.
Rarity and Rank at a glance
| System | What it identifies | How it appears | What it affects | How it changes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rarity | A Champion’s category: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, or Legendary. | The rarity label and frame. | The Champion’s category and the rarity context of summoning. | It is the Champion’s category, not its progression tier. |
| Rank | A Champion’s progression tier, from Rank 1 through Rank 6. | Rank stars. | The Champion’s level cap and the materials required to rank it up. | It can be raised by sacrificing Champions or Chickens of the target’s current Rank. |
| Ascension | A separate progression system. | Purple stars. | The Champion’s Ascension level, which is limited by Rank and requires Potions. | It is advanced separately from Rank. |
Plarium’s official Champions page lists the five rarity categories, while its Tavern guide explains Rank and Ascension. Rarity does not tell you a Champion’s current Rank or level.

What Rank changes
Rank sets the highest level a Champion can reach. The official Tavern guide lists these caps:

| Rank | Maximum level |

| 1 | 10 |
| 2 | 20 |
| 3 | 30 |
| 4 | 40 |
| 5 | 50 |
| 6 | 60 |
Rank also affects progression beyond the level ceiling: the Tavern guide says reaching Rank 4 unlocks the Ring accessory slot.

How Rank-up works
To raise a Champion’s Rank in the Tavern, sacrifice Champions or Chickens whose Rank matches the target Champion’s current Rank. The number required equals that current Rank. For example, a Rank 2 Champion needs two Rank 2 Champions or Chickens, or a combination of them. After ranking up, the target Champion returns to level 1.
Why Rarity and Rank should not be confused
A Champion can be described by both systems at once: Rarity says what category it belongs to, while Rank says how far it has progressed. Neither label substitutes for the other. A Legendary Champion is not automatically Rank 6, and a Champion’s Rank does not change its rarity category.
Rank #2
Rarity also is not a universal measure of which Champion is best to invest in. The official Champions page notes that Legendaries are not always superior to less-rare Champions. Consider the Champion’s usefulness for your goals rather than treating the rarity label as a guaranteed quality ranking.
How summoning relates to Rarity
Shards summon Champions, and each Shard type has probabilities for the rarities it can produce. Those odds can change, so check the information icon on the in-game Summon screen for the current rates rather than relying on an undated figure from a web page.
