It lets you manage multiple qBittorrent instances from one dashboard, automate torrent tasks with rules, cross-seed matching torrents across trackers, create backups and restores, and expose qBittorrent through a transparent reverse-proxy mode. It does not replace qBittorrent’s torrent engine.
You can run qui as a Linux x86_64 binary or as a Docker container. In both cases, the web interface listens on port 7476 by default, so a local installation is reached at http://localhost:7476.

What qui adds to qBittorrent
qBittorrent remains responsible for downloading, uploading and maintaining torrent data. qui provides an additional management layer that connects to qBittorrent through its WebUI and WebAPI.
- Multiple instances: connect several qBittorrent servers to one qui interface instead of opening each WebUI separately.
- Cross-seeding: find matching torrents and add them across trackers, reducing duplicate data when the files already exist locally.
- Rule-based automation: combine conditions and actions to manage torrent workflows without repeating manual steps.
- Backups and restore: create scheduled snapshots and use the listed restore modes when recovering configuration.
- Reverse proxy: use qui’s transparent qBittorrent proxy for applications that need to reach qBittorrent through a single intermediary.
The project describes itself as a “fast, single-binary qBittorrent web UI,” but its official materials do not publish independent speed tests, capacity limits or benchmark results. Treat “fast” as the project’s description, not as a measured performance guarantee.

Install qui as a Linux binary
The documented standalone path is suitable when you want a minimal host installation without a container runtime.
- Download the latest qui release for Linux x86_64 from the project’s release distribution.
- Extract the
quiexecutable. - Move it into the system path, for example
/usr/local/bin/qui. This normally requires administrator privileges. - Start the service with
qui serve. - Open
http://localhost:7476in a browser on the host.
A binary install leaves process supervision, upgrades, permissions and service startup to the host operating system. If qui must restart automatically after a reboot, place qui serve under your preferred service manager rather than relying on an interactive shell.
Run qui with Docker
Docker makes the container lifecycle explicit and gives configuration a dedicated persistent mount. The image named in the project documentation is ghcr.io/autobrr/qui:latest.

ghcr.io/autobrr/qui:latestThis publishes container port 7476 on host port 7476 and stores qui’s configuration in the host directory qui-config. Create a backup of that directory before changing or replacing the container. Pin a specific image tag instead of latest if you need deliberately controlled upgrades; the documented example uses latest.
First access from another machine
http://localhost:7476 works only on the machine running qui. From another device, use the host name or address and port 7476, such as http://server.example:7476, subject to your firewall and network policy. Do not expose the port directly to the public internet without an access-control plan.
Connect qBittorrent instances
After opening qui, add each qBittorrent WebUI endpoint and its credentials. Every instance still needs a functioning qBittorrent WebUI/API service. If an instance is unreachable, check its listening address, port, credentials, firewall rules and whether a reverse proxy is rewriting paths.

qui’s multi-instance design is most useful when servers have different roles—for example, a home downloader and a remote seed box—or when you operate several qBittorrent installations but want one control surface. The torrent data and engine remain on their respective qBittorrent hosts.

Cross-seeding workflow
qui can search for matching torrents across trackers and add them to qBittorrent when the existing files satisfy the match. The practical benefit is avoiding a second download for data you already possess. Matching quality and tracker support depend on the torrent metadata and the connected qBittorrent instances; qui’s documentation does not provide a universal success rate.
Rule-based automation
Rules combine conditions with actions so torrent handling can happen consistently. Use them for repeatable operations such as responding to torrent state or metadata changes. Start with narrowly scoped rules, test them against a small set of torrents, and review the resulting actions before applying broad conditions.

Backups, restore and reverse-proxy mode
Backups and restore
qui lists scheduled snapshots and multiple restore modes. A backup is useful for recovering qui’s own configuration and management state; it is not a substitute for backing up qBittorrent’s downloaded data, fast-resume files or the storage system that holds them. Keep copies on storage that is independent of the running qui container or host.
Transparent reverse proxy
qui includes a transparent qBittorrent proxy for external applications. This can provide a consistent endpoint when applications should reach qBittorrent through qui rather than connecting to each qBittorrent WebUI directly. Proxying does not remove the need to secure the underlying qBittorrent service.
Security and HTTPS responsibilities
Because qui controls qBittorrent, protect both layers. qBittorrent’s official administration guidance covers remote WebUI control, WebAPI versions, authentication, reverse-proxy configuration and HTTPS. Use strong, unique credentials; restrict access to a trusted network or a properly configured reverse proxy; and follow qBittorrent’s HTTPS guidance for encrypted remote access.

- Do not forward port 7476 to the open internet by default.
- Limit firewall access to the addresses that need administration.
- Use TLS at the external reverse proxy when connecting over untrusted networks.
- Keep qui and qBittorrent configuration backups protected because they may contain connection details or credentials.
- Test access after changing qBittorrent’s WebUI port, bind address, authentication or proxy path.
The available project information establishes these as administration controls, not as the result of an independent security audit of qui.
Compatibility with current qBittorrent releases
qui depends on qBittorrent’s WebUI/API, so verify compatibility before upgrading either component. The qBittorrent project lists version 5.2.3 released on 2026-07-07 and 5.3.0beta1 released on 2026-09-05. Its news entries also mention WebUI changes such as context-menu work and fixes. A beta release should be treated as a test upgrade rather than an automatic production target.
Before a qBittorrent upgrade, record the installed versions, back up qui’s configuration, and confirm that the WebUI/API endpoint and authentication behavior remain unchanged. If qui stops connecting afterward, compare the qBittorrent WebAPI version and endpoint settings first.

Choose qui when centralized multi-server control, cross-seeding, rule automation or qui-managed backups justify another service. Stay with the built-in WebUI when you administer one qBittorrent instance and do not need those additional workflows.
Troubleshoot the common failures
The page does not open
- Confirm the process is running with
qui serve, or check that the Docker container is up. - Verify that host port 7476 is published and not already occupied.
- Use the server’s address rather than
localhostwhen browsing from another device. - Check host and network firewalls.
qui cannot connect to qBittorrent
- Open qBittorrent’s WebUI directly from the qui host to verify reachability.
- Recheck the endpoint, port, username and password.
- Confirm qBittorrent allows remote WebUI access on its bind address.
- Review reverse-proxy path and HTTPS settings if qBittorrent is not directly exposed.
Docker configuration disappears
Ensure the host directory is mounted to /config. Recreating a container without that persistent mount can discard qui’s container-local configuration.
