Feedln is a Python command-line RSS reader for managing and reading favorite feeds from a terminal. Its README describes a simple interface for updating, categorizing, searching and reading feeds, with CSV storage, OPML import/export, clipboard actions and hand-offs to external programs.
What Feedln is
Feedln is developed in the xqtr/feedln GitHub repository. It is a terminal user-interface (TUI) application rather than a hosted feed service. The project describes it as “a command-line RSS feed reader that allows users to manage and read their favorite feeds.”
Do not confuse it with Feedr, a separate Rust RSS/Atom reader with a similar name.
What you can do in Feedln
Manage feeds and categories
- Store and load feed definitions from CSV files.
- Browse feeds by category and search text within categories.
- Sort feeds by name or title, or by date.
- Use more than one feed file.
- Clean up orphan entries.
- Edit the feeds file in an external editor.
- Mark entries as read or unread.
Read and work with entries
- View, select, copy and open links in a separate screen.
- Copy links, article content or titles to the clipboard.
- Extract an entry’s text to a file.
- Open article links, video and images with external applications.
- Navigate menus with the left and right cursor keys.
Import and export
Feedln supports importing and exporting OPML, which provides a practical way to move subscriptions between feed readers while retaining its own CSV-based workflow for everyday storage.

Configure external programs
Feedln can call programs outside the reader for media playback, browsing, terminal presentation and editing. Its optional configuration file is named Feedln.cfg. The README documents these keys and example defaults:
| Key | Documented value or example | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
media |
mpv |
Program used for media. |
browser |
firefox |
Program used to open web links. |
xterm |
Example terminal font/size options | Terminal invocation settings. |
editor |
nano |
External editor for feed-file editing. |
These are project-documented defaults or examples, not guarantees that the applications are installed on your system. Change them to commands available in your environment and verify the current README before relying on a setting.

How the storage model affects your workflow
CSV storage keeps the feed list in a format that can be inspected or edited outside Feedln. That is useful for maintaining subscriptions with scripts or a text editor, while categories and multiple feed files help separate interests or working sets. OPML import and export provide interoperability when moving subscriptions to or from another reader.
The trade-off is that Feedln is a script-based terminal application: setup, external programs, clipboard integration and feed-file organization are your responsibility rather than being supplied by a hosted service.

- 【 Faster CPU, Better GPU 】 Pi 5 features a Broadcom BCM2712 64-bit quad-core Arm Cortex-A76 processor running at 2.4GHz, it delivers a 2–3× increase in CPU performance relative to RaspberryPi 4. The 800MHz VideoCore VII GPU is compatible to OpenGL ES 3.1 and Vulkan 1.2, substantial uplift in graphics performance. Pi 5 Offers lightning-fast CPU speed, a PCI Express interface, a Real Time Clock (RTC) and a power button and runs significantly cooler than Pi 4.
Project status and licensing
The repository identifies Feedln as GPL-3.0 software. The available repository snapshot showed 16 commits, five stars and one fork when accessed on September 28, 2026, but those transient figures do not establish adoption or maintenance quality. The reviewed page did not provide an exact latest-commit date, so it is not possible to label the project actively maintained or abandoned from that evidence alone.
Who should use Feedln?
- Good fit: readers who prefer keyboard-driven terminal tools, want CSV-managed subscriptions, or need category and multi-file organization with OPML exchange.
- Less suitable: users seeking a polished graphical interface, built-in media viewers, or a managed synchronization service.
Because the project and its dependencies can change, check the live repository README for current installation, configuration and compatibility details before setting it up.
