In its 5 October announcement, the company said Bordesley had been energised, passed G99 witness testing and entered final commissioning; it expected commercial operations in Q4 2026.
What has Quantum Data Energy completed at Bordesley?
Bordesley is QDE’s third flexible-generation asset to enter construction. The company reported that the project achieved its Substantial Completion Milestone on 30 September 2026. An Independent Technical Expert certified the milestone, and the EMR Delivery Body approved it. QDE said this secured the project’s T-4 Capacity Market agreement for delivery years through and including 2039/2040. Quantum Data Energy PLC’s 5 October 2026 RNS is the source for these project updates.

The milestone does not mean that the plant was fully commissioned or commercially operating. As of the announcement, final commissioning was under way, and construction closeout and handover steps remained.
Which grid and equipment milestones are complete?
- Grid connection: The high-voltage connection was energised on 8 September 2026.
- G99 testing: Witness testing was completed on 29 September and signed off by National Grid Electricity Distribution.
- Gensets: Both Caterpillar G3520K gensets had been delivered and installed. The first was synchronised to the grid on 29 September; commissioning of the units was still in progress.
What remains before commercial operation?
In its 5 October RNS, QDE expected the remaining work to take place in October: completing construction, commissioning and performance-testing the gensets, and finishing snagging and handover. The company forecast commercial operations in Q4 2026. That is the schedule stated at the time of the announcement, not confirmation that the work was subsequently completed or that operations began.

How is Bordesley funded, and what other RNS items are separate?
QDE described Bordesley as fully funded in partnership with Power Balancing Services Ltd. Construction terms dated 9 March, reproduced in the announcement’s related material, set out project-level equity participation of 65% for PBS and 35% for QDE, with the balance funded through external commercial bank debt.
The same 5 October RNS also discussed a renewed secured facility at QDE’s wholly owned Pyebridge subsidiary and a partial settlement of a legacy creditor balance at Sloane Developments Ltd through new shares. Those are separate corporate financing matters, not further Bordesley construction milestones.

What did QDE say about the project?
CEO Pieter Krügel said: “With the site energised, G99 grid compliance achieved and the first genset synchronised to the grid, the project has entered its final commissioning phase and remains within budget.” The within-budget statement is the company’s own characterisation in its 5 October announcement, not an independent assessment.
