If the page loads content only as you scroll, scroll through the relevant area and wait before capturing.
Why below-the-fold content is blank
A full-page screenshot can include the page’s full layout while still showing blank areas where content has not rendered. Common possibilities are an early capture, content fetched or rendered only when it approaches the viewport, or content inside an iframe or nested scrolling element. The cause depends on the affected page; fullPage alone does not express an application-specific readiness condition.

Puppeteer’s screenshot guide demonstrates waiting for navigation with waitUntil: 'networkidle2'. The API also offers page.waitForNetworkIdle(), but network idleness is not proof that every application task has finished. Prefer a selector or state that represents the content you need.

Wait for navigation, then for meaningful content
Start with a navigation wait such as
waitUntil: 'networkidle2', then wait for a page-specific selector that indicates the missing region is ready. The Puppeteer screenshot guide shows the navigation pattern. The network-idle API waits for network idleness and at least the configured idle time; the documented default idle time is 500 ms. That setting is a wait option, not a guarantee that a framework, image decode, or other application work has completed.For example, waiting for an image node to exist may not mean the image has loaded. Choose a condition appropriate to the page, such as a visible component, a completed loading indicator, or an image whose load state is complete.

Test whether scrolling triggers the content
Scroll through the page in increments, waiting for the expected text or images to appear, then capture. This is a diagnostic for lazy loading or scroll-triggered rendering; a full-page screenshot is not documented as triggering every site’s scroll-dependent behavior.

Inspect the missing region in the DOM
At a blank location, check whether the target node exists, contains text or an image source, is visible, and has a nonzero bounding box. Check whether it belongs to an iframe or a nested scrolling element. Puppeteer provides page and frame APIs and element interaction APIs for inspecting and interacting with page content.

Compare viewport, full-page, and element captures
Capture the ordinary viewport and the full page under the same ready state. Then try an element screenshot of the missing section. Puppeteer documents that an element screenshot scrolls the element into view if needed before taking the screenshot. If the element capture works but the full-page image does not, investigate capture scope and layout; if both are blank, investigate whether the page rendered the content at all. These are diagnostic inferences, not a universal explanation.
Runnable example: wait, scroll, and capture
Replace the URL and selector with values from your page. This example waits for navigation and an application-specific element, scrolls through the document to give scroll-triggered content a chance to load, and then saves a full-page PNG.

})();The scroll delay is only an example, not a reliable readiness test for every site. Replace it with a page-specific wait where possible. Puppeteer locators can wait for an element to exist, become visible, and have a stable bounding box over two consecutive animation frames; see the page interactions guide.

Isolate a section with an element screenshot
If you know the selector for the missing region, capture it directly to determine whether the content itself is available:

A successful element image alongside a blank full-page image points toward capture scope or page layout; it does not by itself identify the underlying cause.
Troubleshooting by symptom
- The viewport is also blank: check whether the page loaded, whether the selector exists, and whether the relevant app state or request completed before investigating full-page capture.
- The viewport works, but lower content is blank: wait for the lower content’s selector or state, then test scrolling through the page before capture.
- The target element screenshot works, but the full-page screenshot does not: compare capture options and page layout; verify that
fullPage: trueis set and consider whether the content is in a nested scroller or iframe. - The selector exists, but its image or component is still empty: DOM presence alone may come before image loading or component completion. Wait for a meaningful loaded or rendered condition.
- Network idle is reached, but the region remains blank: network idle only indicates network quiet under Puppeteer’s wait condition. Add a page-specific wait or inspect whether scrolling activates the content.
- Scrolling does not help: inspect the node’s text, source, visibility, dimensions, frame, and scroll container. The title alone cannot establish which of these is responsible.
