Turn off trigger effects in PS5 settings
- Press the PS button and return to the PS5 home screen.
- Open Settings using the gear icon.
- Select Accessories.
- Select Controller (General).
- Open Trigger Effect Intensity and choose Off.
Sony’s PS5 controller settings guide identifies this as the control for trigger-effect intensity. Sony’s DualSense controller manual also explains that trigger effects can be disabled through Accessories settings.

What the setting changes
“Adaptive triggers” is the common name for the DualSense trigger-effect feature. Setting its intensity to Off disables trigger effects in games that support them. It does not change other controller settings, such as vibration.

DualSense Edge trigger-stop note
If you use a DualSense Edge, its L2/R2 stop sliders offer a separate hardware option. Sony’s DualSense Edge manual says that trigger effects are unavailable when the stop sliders are set to short or medium. This applies specifically to the Edge; for the general PS5 setting, use Trigger Effect Intensity.

Menu wording can vary as PS5 system software changes. Look under Settings > Accessories > Controller (General) for the trigger-effect control; Sony’s published label is Trigger Effect Intensity.
