Original PS VR games are not compatible with PS VR2. A developer may offer a PS VR2 version, an upgrade or cross-buy, but Sony’s FAQ makes clear that these decisions are made title by title. Check the individual PlayStation Store listing instead of assuming an existing PS VR library transfers.
Meta Quest 3
Quest 3 is an all-in-one headset: games and apps can run on the headset without a PS5 or PC. Meta also supports PC VR through Meta Quest Link with a cable or through Air Link over a suitable wireless network. PS VR2’s OLED panel and Quest 3’s LCD panel are different technologies, while Quest 3 lists a higher per-eye resolution. Those figures should be treated as specifications rather than a complete image-quality verdict. Try to assess fit and lens clarity with a retailer’s return policy when possible.
Using PS VR2 with a PS5
- Confirm that you have a PS5; a PS4 cannot host the PS VR2 console library.

Sony’s cited PS VR2 specifications do not identify a comparable passthrough feature, so do not assume the two headsets offer the same mixed-reality tools. Budgeting the complete setup
Do not use an old launch price as if it were today’s offer. Sony’s 2023 launch FAQ listed a US recommended retail price of $549.99 for PS VR2 and warned that retailer prices could vary.
