What Project: Arcane Frontier is
Project: Arcane Frontier is a progression-led Minecraft RPG pack created by VelkhanaV2. Its official CurseForge description calls it an “expert-level RPG modpack with unique progression, systems, and features.” “Expert-level” is the creator’s classification, not a standardized difficulty score, so expect a demanding progression path without assuming that every system has the same difficulty as another expert pack.
The cited release is 0.1.2e for Minecraft 1.20.1 on Forge. The listing contains more than 270 mods. That scale affects startup time, memory use, troubleshooting and the amount of configuration that must remain synchronized between players and a server.

The server artifact is a separate download: Project: Arcane Frontier Server Pack 0.1.2e. The official file page lists it as a 1.2 GB ZIP uploaded June 20, 2026. Use that release when creating a dedicated server and keep every player on the same pack version.

Release files and host listings can change. Before installing, check that the client and server files both still identify 0.1.2e, Minecraft 1.20.1 and Forge. If one side has moved to another release, update both sides together rather than trying to make a mixed installation work.

How to install the client
Use a launcher that supports CurseForge Forge instances. The launcher’s exact buttons vary, but the sequence is the same: install the pack, confirm the version, allocate memory, then launch once without changing files.
- Install a compatible launcher. Choose a launcher with CurseForge import or installation support and finish its normal Minecraft setup first.
- Install Project: Arcane Frontier 0.1.2e. Search for the exact pack name, select release 0.1.2e, and verify that the launcher shows Minecraft 1.20.1 with Forge before downloading.
- Set an initial memory limit. Allocate about 6–8 GB for the client, following Hosterfy’s player-side guidance. This is a starting point, not a guaranteed requirement. Leave enough physical RAM for Windows or Linux, the launcher, voice chat and other applications.
- Launch without custom changes. Keep the downloaded mods, configuration files, resource overrides and scripts unchanged until the pack reaches the title screen successfully.
- Test a single-player world. Create or load a test world, move through a few areas and watch for crashes, missing textures, repeated reloads or severe stutter. A successful title screen alone does not prove that world generation and every mod are healthy.
- Record the working profile. Note the launcher instance name, pack release, Minecraft version, Forge version and memory allocation. This makes later troubleshooting much easier.
Client-side signs that the installation is correct
- The launcher identifies Project: Arcane Frontier 0.1.2e rather than a similarly named older profile.
- The game’s logs show Minecraft 1.20.1 and Forge, not Fabric or another loader.
- The main menu opens without a missing-mod or wrong-version warning.
- A new test world can generate terrain and remain open for several minutes.
How to install Project: Arcane Frontier on a dedicated server
The clean installation path is to use the matching server-pack ZIP, install the required Forge server files, accept Minecraft’s EULA, start once to generate files, and only then invite players. Do not upload the ordinary client directory as a shortcut.
1. Prepare the server
Use a machine or managed host with enough disk space for the 1.2 GB archive, its extracted libraries, logs, backups and the world. A Java version matrix maintained by the author is not published in the cited materials, so follow the Java version supported by your host for Minecraft 1.20.1 Forge and validate it with a test launch before opening the server to players.

Create a dedicated empty directory for this release. Keeping it separate from other Minecraft instances prevents old mods, configs and worlds from being mixed into the new installation.

Download Project: Arcane Frontier Server Pack 0.1.2e from the official project’s file listing. Extract it into the new server directory. Preserve the directory structure supplied by the archive; do not merge it into a client profile or remove files because they look unfamiliar.
3. Install Forge server files
Use the Forge installer associated with Minecraft 1.20.1 and the release’s reported Forge version, 47.4.10. In the installer, select the server-install option and point it at the dedicated server directory. The installer will place the Forge libraries and launch files needed by the generated server scripts.
On a command-line system, the Forge installer supports the standard --installServer option. Use the installer file supplied for the exact Forge build rather than guessing a filename from another release.
4. Accept the EULA
Start the generated Forge server script once. It will normally stop and create an eula.txt file. Open that file, read Mojang’s terms, and change the acceptance entry to eula=true only if you agree to them. Do not copy an EULA file from an unrelated server.

5. Generate the initial configuration
Start the server again with the generated Forge launch script. The first run can take substantially longer than a vanilla server because Forge must load hundreds of mods and build caches. Wait for a clear server-ready message in the console rather than closing the process while files are still being generated.
Stop the server cleanly from its console, then make a complete backup of the newly generated directory, including the world, configuration files, scripts and server properties. This gives you a known-good restore point before changing settings.
6. Verify the running environment
- Check the console or log for Minecraft 1.20.1.
- Confirm Forge 47.4.10 is the loader reported for release 0.1.2e.
- Confirm the server’s mod and pack files correspond to 0.1.2e.
- Connect with a client installed from the same 0.1.2e profile.
- Join, travel a short distance, open inventories and test a few progression systems before sharing the address.
Can you upload the client folder to a server?
No. A client folder contains files intended for rendering, local settings and launcher management, while a dedicated server needs the server pack’s file layout and Forge server libraries. Modpacks.ch specifically warns against blindly uploading an ordinary client folder. Such an upload can produce missing-mod errors, client-only classes on the server, incorrect configs or a world that fails during startup.
If a host asks for an upload, provide the official server-pack contents after extraction, not the launcher’s entire client instance. If the host offers an installer, select Project: Arcane Frontier 0.1.2e and confirm that it installs the dedicated server pack rather than downloading only the client files.

There is no official fixed RAM guarantee or player-capacity table for this pack. The 270-plus mod count and 1.2 GB archive show that it is substantial, but neither file count nor compressed size converts directly into a correct memory value. Actual use depends on player count, view distance, world generation, loaded chunks, entities, Java settings, CPU speed and storage latency.

More RAM is not automatically faster. Excessive allocation can lengthen garbage-collection pauses or starve the operating system. Begin with a sensible limit, monitor startup and in-game behavior, and change one variable at a time.
Symptoms that memory or workload is insufficient
- The server repeatedly reports out-of-memory errors or exits during startup.
- Players experience long pauses while new terrain generates.
- Tick time rises when several players explore in different directions.
- The operating system begins swapping because the Java process leaves no headroom.
Raise memory only after checking logs, simulation or view distance, entity buildup and CPU saturation. A faster CPU and SSD can improve a heavily modded server even when the RAM allocation remains unchanged.

Managed hosting: what to compare
Managed hosting can remove manual Forge installation, but “one-click” does not guarantee that the correct release is installed. Ask the provider to identify the exact Project: Arcane Frontier version and whether it deploys the official server pack.

Current prices, locations and availability are not established here and may change. Compare the exact release offered, installation method, upgrade path, backup policy, support response, control-panel access, storage type and server location rather than choosing solely by a RAM number.
Performance checklist for the first week
- Keep a baseline. Record startup time, memory allocation, player count and the conditions under which lag appears.
- Control exploration load. Ask players to avoid sending everyone in different directions while the world is generating large amounts of terrain.
- Watch entities. Farms, dropped items and crowded bases can create more load than the mod count alone suggests.
- Use conservative distances initially. Start with moderate view and simulation distances, then increase them only after the server remains responsive.
- Read logs after every change. A new warning or repeated stack trace can identify a mod or configuration problem before players report it.
- Back up before upgrades. Copy the world and configuration files before changing pack releases, Forge builds or individual mods.
Troubleshooting common failures
The launcher says the pack is incompatible
Check that both the launcher profile and server identify 0.1.2e, Minecraft 1.20.1 and Forge. Remove duplicate profiles that point to an older release, then reinstall the matching client profile if necessary. Do not copy random config files from another version.

The server stops during the first launch
Confirm that the correct Forge server files were installed, the Java runtime is supported by the host, and the EULA entry is accepted. Read the end of the latest log for the first meaningful error rather than focusing on the final shutdown line. Restore the clean server-pack backup if files were manually removed.
Players get missing-mod or mismatched-channel errors
Make sure every player installed the same release and did not add, remove or update individual mods. The server must also have the matching server-pack configuration and overrides.
World generation causes severe lag
Reduce view and simulation distances, limit simultaneous exploration and verify that the host is not swapping memory. If lag remains with few players, compare CPU utilization and storage latency; adding RAM alone may not address the bottleneck.
The host installed the wrong files
Stop the instance, request a clean deployment of the official server pack for 0.1.2e, and restore the world only after the pack boots successfully. Keep the old directory as a backup until players can connect and basic progression works.
Licensing and redistribution
The author’s custom license states: “You are forbidden from re-uploading this modpack under any circumstance.” Do not mirror the ZIP, publish a repack, or attach the modpack to a third-party download. Direct players to the official project and server-pack listings, and share only the installation instructions and the release identifier.
