Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteBuild a pricing uptime dashboard by defining what a successful customer-facing request means, then combining internal service metrics with external checks and logs for diagnosis. Keep the probe result distinct from end-to-end pricing correctness: a page can respond while its prices fail to load, and internal telemetry alone cannot show whether users in a particular region can reach it.
Define what “up” means before calculating availability
Choose the user-visible endpoint or transaction the dashboard represents. It might be an HTTP response from the pricing page, successful retrieval of price data from an API, or a complete journey in which the page renders current prices. These checks answer different questions, so label the monitored operation clearly rather than treating a basic response as proof that the whole pricing experience works.

Set a reporting window and an explicit success criterion. Display both beside the availability figure, ideally in a panel description or note. Also decide how missing telemetry is treated: an absent sample is not automatically a successful request. Make gaps visible or mark the result as unknown rather than silently counting them as healthy.

Instrument the page or API path with request counts, error counts, and latency distributions. Together, these show whether traffic is failing, slowing down, or changing in volume. Use consistent service and environment labels where supported so operators can filter panels and relate a service metric to the right logs.

Keep dimensions focused on questions the team needs to answer. Highly variable labels can create excessive metric series; avoid adding them unless they provide operational value. Availability should be calculated from the success definition and time window you chose, not inferred from a latency graph or a vendor’s default dashboard.
Add external checks to see what users can reach
Run uptime checks or synthetic transactions from regions relevant to your customers. Show the latest result, recent failures, and the region that ran each check. External checks complement internal telemetry: they can reveal reachability problems outside your service boundary, while internal metrics help explain what the service itself observed.
Budget using total executions, not just the number of configured checks. Google Cloud states that an uptime check executed in three regions counts as three executions. Its published pricing page lists $0.30 per 1,000 executions beyond 1 million executions per month per project; the page shows an effective date of October 1, 2022. Check the Google Cloud pricing page for current terms before relying on that rate.

Google Cloud’s pricing page also lists synthetic monitors at $1.20 per 1,000 executions beyond an allowance of 100 executions per billing account. Confirm the current allowance and rate on the pricing page, since published terms can change.
Use logs to investigate individual failures
Metrics reveal patterns over time; logs provide event-level context for investigation. Include timestamps, service and environment, request or trace correlation identifiers, and outcome details that help operators connect an error or slow request to its cause. Logs support diagnosis, but they do not replace a clear definition of availability.
If your platform supports it, link an error or latency panel to a relevant log query. This gives an operator a direct path from a dashboard signal to the events behind it without turning the summary view into a wall of log lines.

Arrange panels from status to diagnosis
Put the most decision-relevant information first, then make investigation progressively more detailed:
- Top row: availability for the selected window, request and error rates, and latency percentiles. Keep the success definition and reporting window visible.
- External checks: latest status by region and recent failures, with each region identified.
- Service detail: error categories and relevant request or API metrics.
- Investigation context: linked log queries and deployment or incident annotations, where available.
- Telemetry use: metrics and log volume or spend indicators that match the platform’s billing units.
Keep internal service measurements and external results distinguishable. A single blended status can conceal whether an incident is limited to a region, the public route, or the service’s own behavior.

Evaluate options against your existing instrumentation and query languages, the regions and synthetic transactions you need, retention and access controls, the work required to collect and query telemetry, billing units, and the ease of moving from a summary panel to relevant logs. AWS documents publishing OpenTelemetry metrics to CloudWatch and querying them with PromQL, which it describes as compatible with existing Grafana dashboards. See the CloudWatch OpenTelemetry metrics documentation for that specific path, and AWS’s CloudWatch pricing page for pricing and storage details.
Make telemetry cost and retention visible
Track metrics and logs separately when the platform bills them using different units. Grafana Cloud’s usage documentation describes product-specific billing units and points to its live pricing page for rates. Grafana states: “Grafana Cloud pricing is usage based. You pay for the telemetry you send, the products you turn on, and the people who use them.” See Grafana Cloud pricing and usage documentation.

The same page lists Pro log rates starting at $0.050/GB to process, $0.400/GB to write, and $0.100/GB to retain. These are published units and rates, not a complete estimate of a deployment’s bill; allowances and plan conditions matter. Check the Grafana Cloud pricing page for current terms and retention details.
Grafana Labs’ 2026 page also describes an Application Observability model for new customers at $0.025 per host hour, plus separate telemetry charges, effective February 13, 2026. Existing customers under the earlier model have different terms, and serverless environments use telemetry-based billing. Do not apply the new-customer host-hour rate to other customer cohorts or environments; consult the current pricing page.
Validate the dashboard with known scenarios
Before relying on the dashboard during an incident, check that its panels behave as intended against a controlled test or replay of recorded data. Confirm that a failed user-visible check appears as a failure, latency changes show up in the right window, region labels remain identifiable, and a metric or alert can lead to useful logs. Verify missing-data behavior as well, so gaps do not appear as healthy availability.
