If you do not see one, captions may not be available for that video. Pornhub’s current caption catalog, language options, and player controls are not confirmed by current official documentation, so availability should be checked video by video.
How to check for captions on a Pornhub video
- Open the video you want to watch.
- Look in the video player for a CC control. Historical reporting described a CC control in Pornhub’s player, but its current placement and behavior have not been verified.
- If the control is present, use it to check whether captions can be enabled. If it is absent, captions may not be offered for that video.
Do not assume that a captioned-video category, if visible, means every video in the catalog has captions. A category is a way to browse; it is not evidence of complete coverage.

Does Pornhub have closed captions?
Historical launch coverage reported that Pornhub introduced a dedicated “Closed Captions” category and a CC control in its player. Highsnobiety reported an initial collection of more than 1,000 popular videos, while DER SPIEGEL also reported more than 1,000 and described the captions as English-only at that time. These are launch-era reports, not a current count or confirmation of today’s supported languages.

There is no current official information established here about the size of Pornhub’s captioned catalog, which languages are available, or whether the historical category and controls remain available across devices and regions. Pornhub’s 2022 creator guidance explains metadata and categories, but does not document a caption-upload process. Pornhub Model Blog’s metadata and category guidance therefore should not be treated as instructions for adding captions.

What closed captions include
Captions are synchronized text for spoken dialogue and relevant non-speech audio, such as meaningful sound effects or music cues. Subtitles may show dialogue alone or translated dialogue, so the terms are not always interchangeable. The W3C’s captions and subtitles guidance explains the distinction and notes that captions serve Deaf and hard-of-hearing viewers as well as people who find written text easier to follow than audio.
Caption quality matters: text should match the audio, appear at the right time, remain visible long enough to read, and identify speakers or important sounds clearly. Section508.gov’s general guidance recommends no more than two lines at once and no more than 45 characters per line, with fewer preferred. Those are general accessibility recommendations, not stated Pornhub player specifications. Section508.gov’s captioning guidance also cautions that accuracy and synchronization are essential; automatically generated captions need review to be dependable.

Why a caption category does not guarantee broad coverage
A dedicated category can make captioned videos easier to discover, but it cannot establish how complete or representative the catalog is. A University of Oregon thesis analyzed use of Pornhub’s Closed Captions category and filtering patterns during the period studied; its findings concern that research and period, not a current catalog count or every category today. Read the University of Oregon thesis, “Closed Captioning: Reading Between the Lines.”
What historical coverage can—and cannot—tell you
Highsnobiety quoted Pornhub vice president Corey Price describing accessibility as a priority when the feature launched. That is a historical company statement reported at launch, not confirmation of current service commitments or feature availability. Highsnobiety’s launch-era coverage and DER SPIEGEL’s 2018 report document the initial rollout; neither establishes the present catalog or captioning process.
