Yes. OtterBox made cases specifically for the iPhone 4, including a Defender with a white outer shell and black silicone skin. That was the case’s colorway—not a description of the phone. The Defender is now a legacy product, so current OtterBox pages do not confirm support or stock for iPhone 4 cases.
Did OtterBox make a white case for iPhone 4?
Yes. OtterBox announced a Defender Series case designed for iPhone 4 in July 2010, then documented a white-shell, black-silicone option in October 2010. The white refers to the case shell; it does not mean the case was made only for the white iPhone. OtterBox described the shell as high-impact, shatter-resistant polycarbonate. Defender or Commuter for iPhone 4?
OtterBox also made an iPhone 4 Commuter. Its 2010 announcement described a screen protector, silicone middle layer, polycarbonate shell, and port plugs. The company positioned it as providing bump and shock protection. The historical manufacturer descriptions distinguish the constructions and included accessories; they are not independent comparative tests.

Neither iPhone 4 case is documented as water-resistant
OtterBox explicitly said its Defender cases were not tested or recommended for water protection. Do not treat this Defender as waterproof or water-resistant. The Commuter announcement likewise does not support a water-protection claim.
Is an iPhone 4 OtterBox still available?
The old announcements confirm that these cases existed, but current OtterBox Commuter and iPhone case pages reviewed describe current product families and do not establish iPhone 4 compatibility or current stock. Treat an iPhone 4 Defender or Commuter search as a search for a legacy product, not a currently supported model.

- Clear photos of the actual case, including its interior and device openings.
- Condition of the shell, silicone, screen cover, port plugs, and holster, as applicable.
- Whether the Defender’s swivel belt clip and other pictured components are included.
- Seller details and whether the item is represented as authentic OtterBox merchandise.
Do not assume that a case described simply as “OtterBox” or “white iPhone case” will fit: the documented product is specifically for iPhone 4.
