One purchase covers three planned parts: Part 1, Bubbly Basin, released on August 4, 2026; Part 2 is planned for late 2026; and Part 3 is planned for 2027. Dive itself comes from a free update for every game owner, but entering Bubbly Basin requires the pass and specific story progress.
What the Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass includes
The Expansion Pass is a single paid DLC product rather than three separate purchases. Nintendo describes one pass purchase as access to all three parts when each becomes available. The product is tied to the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Pokémon Pokopia; the official pages reviewed do not establish support for the original Nintendo Switch.

| Pass part | What is established | Availability |
|---|---|---|
| Part 1: Bubbly Basin | The first expansion area, with an underwater gate reached after the required game progress | Released August 4, 2026 |
| Part 2 | Included in the same pass; detailed content was not specified in the official material reviewed | Scheduled for late 2026 |
| Part 3 | Nintendo’s US product page says it will include a new town to explore and rebuild | Scheduled for 2027 |
Late-2026 and 2027 are Nintendo’s current planning windows, not guaranteed calendar dates. For a changed launch date or newly announced content, use the current listing in your market rather than relying on an older announcement. Nintendo’s availability page is the best starting point for the latest DLC status: What DLC is Available? (Pokémon Pokopia).

Which console is supported?
Nintendo identifies both Pokémon Pokopia and its Expansion Pass as Nintendo Switch 2 products. The official pages used for this guide do not say that the game or pass works on the original Nintendo Switch. Do not treat a Nintendo account, an eShop listing from another country, or a compatible-looking package as proof of original-Switch support.
#1 Best Overall
- Shape the world and build a cozy new life with Pokémon as a Ditto transformed to look like a human.
- Use other Pokémon’s moves, like Bulbasaur’s Leafage, to revitalize and navigate the world around you.
- Meet and befriend more Pokémon as you help nature flourish.
- Gather materials to create items and furniture, till the fields to grow delicious crops, build homes for the Pokémon you meet, and more—there’s so much to do!
- Experience a world with varied weather, real-time days and nights, and other surprises.
What you need before buying
- A Nintendo Switch 2 console.
- A copy of Pokémon Pokopia, unless you purchase a game-plus-pass bundle.
- A Nintendo Account and access to Nintendo eShop or the Nintendo Store for digital DLC.
- Internet access for downloads and, for the announced Singapore Game-Key Card package, the initial game download.
Because Nintendo’s pages are market-specific, check the product page for your country before paying. Platform support and local edition details should be confirmed on that page, not inferred from a listing in Canada, the United States, or Singapore.
When each expansion arrives
Part 1: Bubbly Basin
Bubbly Basin is Part 1 and was released on August 4, 2026. Owning the pass does not teleport the area into the story immediately: the game still requires the progression described in the access section below.
Part 2
Part 2 is planned for late 2026. The reviewed Nintendo pages do not provide a more precise date or a complete feature list. It remains included in the same pass purchase, so a player who buys the pass now does not need to buy Part 2 separately when Nintendo releases it.
Part 3
Part 3 is planned for 2027. Nintendo’s US product page specifically describes a new town to explore and rebuild. No narrower release date was established in the official material reviewed.

Is Dive paid DLC?
No. Dive is delivered in a free software update for anyone who owns Pokémon Pokopia. The paid element is access to Bubbly Basin itself. This distinction matters if you only want the new ability: you should update the game even if you do not purchase the Expansion Pass.
Requirements for Bubbly Basin’s underwater gate
Nintendo Support gives a precise progression requirement: “To access Bubbly Basin’s underwater gate, you must first learn Dive and complete the important request ‘Raise the environment level!’ in Bleak Beach.” Nintendo’s US product page also says the player needs the ability to jump and must know Surf in order to learn Dive.
- Install the free software update for Pokémon Pokopia.
- Make sure your character has learned Surf and can jump.
- Progress until the game lets you learn Dive.
- Complete the important request named Raise the environment level! in Bleak Beach.
- With the Expansion Pass purchased and activated, return to the underwater gate and enter Bubbly Basin.
If the gate remains closed, buying the pass again will not bypass the story requirement. Check the request and ability prerequisites first.

Nintendo offers several purchase routes, but the exact choice depends on whether you already own the game and which market you use. The following table separates confirmed regional offers instead of presenting them as one worldwide catalog.
Rank #3
- Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass
| Purchase route | What it contains | Market and format qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Standalone Expansion Pass | All three pass parts as they release; it does not contain the base game | Available through Nintendo eShop and the Nintendo Store; local price and availability vary |
| Digital game-plus-pass bundle | Pokémon Pokopia plus all three Expansion Pass parts | Listed on Nintendo Canada’s store page; this does not prove the same bundle exists in every country |
| Pokémon Pokopia + Expansion Pass package | The game and pass in one physical retail package | Nintendo Singapore announced an October 29, 2026 Game-Key Card edition |
| Standalone physical game | The base game without an indicated pass entitlement | A standalone physical game is listed on Nintendo’s US product page; verify the package contents in your market |
Prices were not established uniformly by the official pages used here. Nintendo’s store pages can show different currencies, taxes, promotions, and release status, so use your local listing for the amount charged and the date the product can be purchased.
How the Singapore Game-Key Card package works
Nintendo Singapore announced a “Pokémon Pokopia + Expansion Pass” package for October 29, 2026. It is a Game-Key Card package, not a conventional cartridge containing the complete game data. The announcement says the package requires an internet connection and at least 10 GB of free storage for the initial game download; updates may require additional space. These are Singapore announcement details and should not be generalized to every country’s physical edition. Read the announcement at Nintendo Singapore’s October 9, 2026 package announcement.
Do you get a game card with the separate pass?
No. The separate Expansion Pass is digital DLC and does not contain a game card. Nintendo Singapore states that you must own Pokémon Pokopia to play the pass. A Game-Key Card package is different: it is a physical product whose first-play download is required, while a standalone digital pass is an add-on entitlement.

How to access DLC after purchase
If the pass does not appear in the game, follow Nintendo’s support sequence rather than immediately repurchasing it. The official troubleshooting article is Unable to Access DLC (Pokémon Pokopia).
Rank #4
- Pokémon Pokopia Bundle (Game + Expansion Pass)
- Update the console. Install any available Nintendo Switch 2 system update.
- Update the game. Confirm that Pokémon Pokopia is running its latest software version so the free Dive update and pass data can be recognized.
- Restart the console. A full restart can refresh DLC entitlements and the software state.
- Open Nintendo eShop with the purchasing user. Use the Nintendo Account that bought the Expansion Pass, not a different profile on the same console.
- Confirm the purchase. Find the Expansion Pass listing and verify that it is marked Purchased. If it is not, check the account and market used for the transaction before taking any other action.
- Load the DLC virtual game card. Nintendo’s current Switch 2 system uses virtual game cards; make sure the pass entitlement is loaded on the console where you are playing.
- Check the in-game Downloadable Content menu. Nintendo specifically directs players there to check for the dynamic Ditto print recipe, which can confirm that the DLC data is being recognized.
- Check story progress. Even with a valid entitlement, Bubbly Basin stays unavailable until Dive is learned and “Raise the environment level!” is completed in Bleak Beach.
Why later parts may not appear yet
As of the latest official information available for this guide, Part 2 and Part 3 had not released. A purchased pass can therefore show ownership without presenting those areas in-game. Ownership grants future parts when Nintendo releases them; it does not make unreleased content playable early.
Does a pass bought in one region work with a game from another?
The official Nintendo pages reviewed do not answer this cross-region question. They establish the Switch 2 requirement, purchase channels, and troubleshooting steps, but they do not publish a compatibility rule for mixing a game purchased in one country with DLC purchased in another.
Because of that gap, do not infer compatibility from community reports, a shared Nintendo Account, or the fact that an eShop page is visible in another market. Before buying, identify the country or region attached to both the base game and the eShop account, then ask Nintendo Support or verify the specific local product listing. If the listing does not state cross-region support, treat the result as unconfirmed rather than guaranteed.
Which purchase route is right for you?
You already own the game
Buy the standalone Expansion Pass through the Nintendo eShop or Nintendo Store in the same market as your game, then follow the virtual-game-card and in-game checks above. You still need to install the free update and reach the Bleak Beach requirement before Bubbly Basin opens.
Best Value
- Don the role of a Pokémon Trainer as you travel through Kanto
- Discover a new species of Pokémon with the Pokémon Lets Go series
- Catch Pokémon in the wild using a gentle throwing motion with either a Joy-Con controller or a Poké Ball Plus accessory, which will light up, vibrate, and make sounds to bring your adventure to life
- See the world in style by customizing Pikachu and your Trainer with a selection of outfits
- Connect to Pokémon GO* to transfer caught Kanto-region Pokémon, including Alolan and Shiny forms, as well as the newly discovered Pokémon, Meltan, from that game to this one
You do not own the game yet
Compare your local store’s game-plus-pass bundle with buying the game and DLC separately. Canada has a digital bundle listing, while Singapore announced a Game-Key Card package; those examples do not establish identical offers elsewhere. Check whether the package is digital or Game-Key Card, what storage it requires, and whether the pass entitlement is explicitly included.
You prefer a physical purchase
Read the package label carefully. A Game-Key Card is not a fully self-contained cartridge: the Singapore package requires internet access and at least 10 GB free for the initial download, with potentially more space for updates. If your console has limited storage or unreliable internet, confirm the local edition’s download requirements before choosing it.
You only want Dive
Do not buy the pass solely for the ability. Dive is part of the free software update for game owners. The pass is needed for Bubbly Basin and the additional expansion content, not for receiving Dive itself.

Buyer’s checklist before checkout
- Confirm that the product is for Nintendo Switch 2.
- Decide whether you need the base game, the pass, or both.
- Check your local Nintendo listing for price, currency, taxes, release date, and edition format.
- If buying a package, verify whether it is a normal game card, a Game-Key Card, or a digital code.
- For the announced Singapore Game-Key Card edition, reserve at least 10 GB for the initial download and additional space for updates.
- Use the same Nintendo Account and market for the purchase and the DLC entitlement whenever possible; cross-region behavior is not established by the official pages reviewed.
- Remember that Bubbly Basin requires Dive plus “Raise the environment level!” in Bleak Beach, even after the pass is installed.
- Expect Part 2 and Part 3 only when Nintendo releases them, not immediately after purchase.
