The POCO M7 is the better fit if you want a bigger screen, a higher listed refresh rate, a larger battery and clearly specified microSD expansion. The POCO M7 Pro 5G adds 5G, an AMOLED display, optical image stabilization on its main camera, faster charging and a smaller, lighter body. The right choice depends first on whether you need 5G: the global M7 listing is 4G-only, while the Pro specifications cited here are for Malaysia. Their prices below are a past Belgium promotion, not a current or worldwide price guide.

Choose based on mobile network support first
The global POCO M7 listing specifies 4G LTE and lists no 5G bands. The Malaysia POCO M7 Pro 5G listing includes 5G. If 5G matters, check the exact model sold in your country and confirm its supported bands against your carrier; a model name alone does not establish compatibility with every network.

Pick the display for the panel, not just the refresh-rate number
The M7 has the larger listed screen at 6.9 inches and the higher maximum refresh rate at 144 Hz, supported in applicable apps. The Pro’s 6.67-inch AMOLED panel is listed at up to 120 Hz. AMOLED versus LCD and screen size are meaningful differences; refresh rate alone does not establish which display looks better overall.
Consider battery capacity separately from battery life
POCO lists the M7’s typical capacity as 7,000 mAh; Xiaomi Malaysia lists 5,110 mAh typical for the Pro. Those capacity figures do not establish comparative real-world runtime. POCO also reports up to 28 hours of video playback for the M7 based on POCO Internal Labs testing; that is a manufacturer test, not an independently verified comparison with the Pro, and actual results may vary. POCO Internal Labs also says the M7 retains at least 80% of original battery capacity after 1,600 charge cycles; actual results may vary.
Look at the camera hardware you will actually use
Both listings include a 50 MP main rear camera. The Pro specifies optical image stabilization (OIS) on that main camera and adds a 2 MP depth camera; its front camera is listed at 20 MP versus 8 MP for the M7. These are hardware specifications, not proof of which phone produces better photos in every situation.
Factor in the charger and storage setup
The global M7 package listing says a power adapter is not included and recommends a 33 W PD adapter. Xiaomi Malaysia’s Pro listing specifies a 45 W charger in the box, but package contents can vary by region. POCO Global clearly lists M7 microSD expansion up to 2 TB, with the card sold separately. The Pro has a hybrid SIM/microSD slot; check the local model’s stated card capacity if it matters to you.
Account for size and protection details
The Pro is shorter, narrower, thinner and lighter in the listed specifications. POCO lists IP64 dust and splash resistance for the global M7, subject to its stated limits. Xiaomi Malaysia lists Gorilla Glass 5 for the Pro but does not state an IP rating on the cited page, so do not assume one from that specification alone.

The available price example is Xiaomi Belgium’s 2026 Fan Festival promotion, not a current price in every market. Its terms list these reference and event prices:
| Model and configuration | Belgium reference price | Belgium event price |
|---|---|---|
| POCO M7, 6 GB + 128 GB | €169.90 | €119.90 |
| POCO M7, 8 GB + 256 GB | €189.90 | €119.90 |
| POCO M7 Pro 5G, 8 GB + 256 GB | €239.90 | €139.90 |
| POCO M7 Pro 5G, 12 GB + 256 GB | €259.90 | €159.90 |
For the closest like-for-like listed storage comparison, the 8 GB + 256 GB Pro event price was €20 above the 8 GB + 256 GB M7 event price. The 12 GB + 256 GB Pro was €40 above that M7 event price, but it has more RAM, so it is not a like-for-like configuration. These were event prices for Belgium; the event terms, market, stock and exact SKU matter. See Xiaomi Belgium’s Fan Festival 2026 terms for the cited offer. They do not establish current prices or availability elsewhere.
