PlayStation Store Refunds: Rules, Deadlines & Request Steps

PlayStation Store refund rules depend on your account’s region and what you bought. For a U.S. account, start in Transaction History, select an eligible purchase, choose Request Refund, and follow the prompts. Eligibility is not automatic: deadlines and whether you downloaded, streamed, launched, or used the content can matter.

Check the rules for your account’s region

PlayStation publishes regional cancellation policies, so a deadline described on one country’s page should not be assumed to apply everywhere. The U.S. support page explains the U.S. request route; the category-specific examples below are from PlayStation’s Ireland guide. Singapore’s pre-order page supplies an additional regional example. Check the policy for the country or region associated with your account, and consider that applicable local law may provide additional rights. How to request a refund

United States

Open your PlayStation account’s Transaction History.
Select the transaction you want to ask about.
Choose Request Refund if it is available, then follow the on-screen instructions.

These are the steps shown on PlayStation’s U.S. support page. If your account is in another region, use that region’s order details or transaction-history route and the labels shown there. PlayStation’s Ireland guide, for example, directs customers to Order details, then an eligible transaction and Cancel Purchase; it also points customers to the online assistant or PlayStation Support if they need help.

Eligibility by purchase type

The following deadlines and conditions are from PlayStation’s Ireland guide. They are regional examples, not a universal promise of eligibility.

Purchase type	Ireland guide: deadline	Important conditions
Games, DLC, and season passes	Request within 14 days of purchase.	Content must not have been downloaded or streamed. Faulty content and applicable local law can affect rights.
In-game consumables	Request within 14 days of purchase.	The game must not have been launched after purchase. Items bought outside gameplay are delivered at the next launch; items bought during gameplay are delivered immediately.
Subscriptions	Request within 14 days of signup.	This route applies to the first payment, not recurring fees. Free-trial time counts toward the 14 days. If the subscription was used, the refund may be reduced to account for use.
Digital pre-orders paid more than 14 days before release	Request before release.	The main content must not have been downloaded or streamed.
Digital pre-orders paid 14 days or less before release	Request within 14 days of payment.	The main content must not have been downloaded or streamed.

These category rules are described in PlayStation’s Ireland refund guide. The Singapore pre-order guide also warns that downloading the main content can affect eligibility. Cancelling a pre-order can remove access to bonus content that was already available before release; see PlayStation’s Singapore pre-order page.

Purchases that generally cannot be cancelled under the Ireland guide

Wallet top-ups: the Ireland FAQ says they cannot be cancelled.
Online ID changes: a new online ID purchase is not refundable unless it is faulty.
Voucher codes bought elsewhere: contact the retailer that sold the code rather than requesting a PlayStation Store purchase refund.

Subscription cancellation is not a refund request

Turning off a subscription’s automatic renewal stops future payments; it does not, by itself, request a refund for a payment already made. For the Ireland guide’s refund route, the request must be made within 14 days of signup, the route is limited to the first payment, and any free-trial period counts toward that window. If the service was used, PlayStation says the refund may be reduced. For U.S. subscription cancellation directions, use the U.S. Store and refunds support page.

Where the refund goes and how long it may take

PlayStation’s Ireland FAQ says a refund may arrive in 10 days. It is returned to the original payment method where possible; otherwise, it is credited to the PlayStation wallet. This is an estimate from the Ireland guide, not a universal processing guarantee. Payment handling differs by region: PlayStation’s Singapore pre-order page identifies payment methods for which refunds go to the wallet. Check the relevant regional guidance for your purchase.
