Samsung Galaxy offers more control over interface customization and automation overall. One UI’s optional Good Lock modules extend customization of the Quick panel, lock screen and navigation, while Galaxy Routines can run actions when chosen conditions are met. Pixel still gives you useful built-in controls, including editable Quick Settings and a range of display settings. The distinction here is breadth of personalization and automation—not a claim that Samsung exposes more of every Android system setting.

Good Lock adds customization layers
Samsung’s Good Lock offers optional modules for changing parts of the interface, including the Quick panel, lock screen and always-on display, and navigation. This is the clearest reason Galaxy has the edge for people who want to tune how their phone looks and behaves beyond its standard settings. Good Lock modules are not guaranteed to be available on every Galaxy: support varies by model and software version. One UI 7 offers panel-layout choices
Samsung documents a One UI 7 option on supported devices to access notifications and Quick Settings separately, with a setting to combine the panels again. This gives users a choice in how they reach those controls. Routines automate actions by condition
Galaxy Routines lets you define conditions and the actions the phone should run when those conditions are met. Samsung’s UK support documentation, updated March 16, 2026, describes it this way: “Galaxy Routines lets you automate your phone’s behaviour by running preset actions when specific conditions are met.” Read Samsung’s guide to Routines for the documented workflow. This establishes a Samsung automation option; it does not establish that Pixel has no automation capabilities.

What Pixel lets you adjust
Edit Quick Settings tiles
Pixel’s Quick Settings are not fixed: Google documents adding, removing, reordering and resizing tiles. Long-pressing a tile can open its advanced settings. Some instructions apply only to Android 11 and later. The steps are in Google’s Pixel Quick Settings guide.
Change everyday display settings
Google also documents controls for brightness, font and display size, screen rotation, themes and Night Light, along with options that depend on the Pixel model. These settings provide meaningful day-to-day adjustment even though the documented customization layer is less extensive than Samsung’s Good Lock offering. See Google’s Pixel display-settings guide.

Check compatibility before choosing
Samsung’s extra options are not universal across every Galaxy device: Good Lock module availability depends on model and software version, and One UI panel behavior is documented for supported devices. Pixel display options can also vary by model, and some Quick Settings instructions depend on Android version. Samsung’s cited pages come from India, Canada and the UK, so regional availability and labels may differ. Confirm the specific phone’s software and feature availability before relying on a particular control.
