To quiet repeated alerts on a Pixel, turn on Notification cooldown: open Settings > Notifications and switch it on. Google documents the feature for Android 14 and later; it lowers the volume of repeated notifications from the same app rather than blocking them.
Turn on Notification cooldown
- Open the Settings app on your Pixel.
- Tap Notifications.
- Turn on Notification cooldown.
Google lists the feature for phones running Android 14 or later. If the option is missing, check your Android version. Menu labels and availability can change with software updates.

What Notification cooldown changes
Google describes the feature this way: “To help you focus, your phone can automatically lower the volume of repeated notifications from the same app.” It reduces the volume of repeated alerts; Google’s documentation does not say that it blocks or discards them.
Google does not specify a fixed number of alerts that triggers cooldown or a set cooldown duration. A report that alerts seemed to quiet down after messages arrived close together does not establish a universal threshold.

- Magic Capture catches the moment as you live it: With just one tap, Pixel 11 Pro captures video and photos, and automatically edits, crops, and unblurs a curated collection, ready to share – and you get the memory of how it felt to be in the moment

Choose another control when you need a different result
| Control | What it affects | Where to find it |
|---|---|---|
| Notification cooldown | Lowers the volume of repeated notifications from the same app. | Settings > Notifications (Google Pixel Help) |
| App notifications and categories | Targets a particular app or, where available, a category of its alerts. Use this to silence or disable selected notifications while retaining others. | Settings > Notifications > App notifications; some apps also offer notification categories (Google Pixel Help) |
| Do Not Disturb or Modes | Filters a broader set of interruptions, such as people, apps, or alarms; certain modes can be scheduled. | Open the relevant Do Not Disturb or Mode settings (Google Pixel Help) |
Cooldown is the narrow choice for repeated alerts from the same app. App controls are more precise when one source or category is the problem; Do Not Disturb and Modes suit broader or scheduled quiet periods.
