What are the biggest specification differences?
Both phones have a 6.3-inch display and IP68 dust and water resistance. The Pro’s main hardware advantages are its additional rear camera, more capable display specifications on paper, newer listed processor generation, and greater RAM and storage options. Google’s Pixel comparison, Pixel 10a specifications, and Pixel 10 Pro specifications provide the published figures below.

Which phone has the better camera setup?
Pixel 10a: wide and ultrawide
The 10a has a 48 MP main camera and a 13 MP ultrawide camera. Google lists up to 8x Super Zoom, but it does not have a dedicated telephoto camera in the published rear-camera specifications.
Pixel 10 Pro: adds a 5x telephoto
The Pro adds a 48 MP 5x telephoto lens alongside its 50 MP wide and 48 MP ultrawide cameras, and Google lists up to 100x Pro Zoom. That extra camera is the clearest hardware reason to pay more if you often photograph distant subjects. Zoom-range labels describe manufacturer features; they do not establish that image quality is equal at every magnification.

Is the Pro display worth the upgrade?
The diagonal is 6.3 inches on both, so choosing the Pro does not mean getting a larger screen. Its listed panel has more pixels, an LTPO design, a 1–120 Hz refresh range, and a higher peak-brightness figure than the 10a’s 60–120 Hz display. Those are meaningful specification differences for readers who value finer detail or a lower minimum refresh rate. They are published specifications, not a guarantee of a particular real-world viewing experience.

How do battery and charging compare?
Google lists a typical 5,100 mAh battery for the 10a and 4,870 mAh for the Pro. Its stated endurance claims are 30+ hours for the 10a and 24+ hours for the Pro; these are manufacturer claims under Google’s conditions, not independent comparative test results.
The charging claims use different charger requirements: Google says the 10a can reach up to 50% in about 30 minutes with a 45 W USB-C PPS charger or higher, while the Pro can reach up to 55% in about 30 minutes with a 30 W USB-C PPS charger or higher. Both chargers are sold separately. The percentages are not directly comparable as a full charging-speed test.
Which one should you buy?
Choose Pixel 10a if
- You want the lower displayed starting price and do not need a dedicated telephoto camera.
- You value the larger listed battery capacity and Google’s 30+ hour battery-life claim.
- You want a 6.3-inch, up-to-120 Hz display, IP68 rating, and wireless charging without paying for the Pro’s camera and display upgrades.
- Google’s stated seven years of OS, security, and Pixel Drop updates is important to your decision.
Choose Pixel 10 Pro if
- You will use the dedicated 5x telephoto camera or want the greater zoom range Google lists.
- You prefer the higher-resolution LTPO display, 1–120 Hz refresh range, or higher peak-brightness specification.
- You want the Tensor G5 and 16 GB RAM listed for the Pro rather than the Tensor G4 and 8 GB RAM listed for the 10a.
- You need storage above 256 GB; the Pro is offered in configurations up to 1 TB.
These recommendations follow the published specifications, not hands-on testing or independent performance measurements. For a final price decision, compare like-for-like storage and unlocked listings, then assess any carrier or trade-in deal separately.
