- Watch supported video. Amazon lists video briefings and Prime Video among Echo Show screen uses.
- View supported camera feeds. The Echo Show support material includes camera-feed and home-monitoring guidance; availability may vary by device generation, service and settings.
- Display photos. Amazon’s photo-display instructions cover Echo Show 8 and Amazon Photos.
- Use screen features and connected devices. Amazon’s support index includes widgets and Bluetooth pairing, among other help topics. Check the instructions for your generation and the service or device you intend to use.

How do you set up an Echo Show 8?
For the 2025 release and 3rd Generation, Amazon’s setup guides call for the device, its included power adapter, an Amazon account and Wi-Fi credentials. Keep the Wi-Fi details handy before starting.

- Select and connect to your Wi-Fi network.

Amazon’s instructions for Echo Show 8 direct users to the device’s settings, then Display & Appearance, Photo Display and a supported photo service. Amazon Photos is supported. Photo display is unavailable while the device is in Amazon Kids mode. The precise on-screen wording can vary with software and model; consult Amazon’s photo display instructions.

How do camera controls and privacy differ?
On the Echo Show 8 (2025 release), Amazon says the camera is enabled by default. The side microphone/camera button disables the camera and microphone. Camera-dependent features may stop working or behave differently when the camera is off; Amazon specifically says Live View is disabled. The camera supports Live View, Drop In, Visual ID, presence detection and Adaptive Content on that release, subject to their applicable account, contact or enrollment setup.
The 3rd Generation setup page describes a camera shutter, so do not assume the 2025 release has the same physical privacy control. Amazon also directs users to review or delete voice-recording history and to its Alexa Privacy Hub. What are the 2025 model’s published power and temperature ratings?
For the Echo Show 8 (2025 release) only, Amazon’s safety and compliance information identifies model MD6NE4, an electrical rating of 18.0 V DC at 1.67 A, and an operating temperature range of 0–35°C (32–95°F).
