Find your full model number on the packaging or the TV’s type label, then follow the matching Philips support page or manual. A settings reset may affect only picture and sound; a full factory reset can erase personal information and require setup again.
Find your Philips TV model before resetting
Check the packaging label or the type label on the back or bottom of the TV for its model and serial numbers. Then use the exact model to find its instructions on Philips TV support or in the user manual. The manual says the TV’s Help area can include a user manual, troubleshooting, factory settings, and reinstall options; available menus vary by model.

Choose the reset that matches the problem
Reset picture or audio settings
Some Philips TVs offer a narrower reset for picture and sound settings. On the Philips Roku TV platform documented in its manual, this is separate from the option to reset everything. Use the instructions for your specific model and platform rather than assuming the same distinction or menu labels apply across all Philips TVs.
Factory reset or reinstall
A full reset is more disruptive than changing or resetting picture and audio settings. On the Philips Roku TV described in the Philips-hosted Roku TV manual, “Factory reset everything” returns the TV to its original state and removes personally identifiable information. Afterward, the owner must repeat Guided Setup, reconnect to the internet, relink the Roku account, reload streaming channels, and set up live TV and inputs again. These consequences are documented for that Roku TV platform; check your own manual before proceeding.

Reset steps for three older Philips models
Philips Support gives the following factory-settings sequence for the 50PF7220A/37, 42PF7220A/37, and 42PF9730A/37. It is not a universal Smart TV procedure. Confirm that your model is one of these before using it.
- Press SELECT repeatedly until the remote’s TV light turns green.
- Press MENU.
- Move down to SETTINGS and press right twice.
- Move down to RESET AV SETTINGS.
- Press right to select START NOW, then press OK.
- Press MENU to exit.
These steps come from Philips Support’s instructions for those named models. For any other TV, use its own support page or manual instead.

Restarting is different from resetting
A restart turns the TV off and back on; it is not the same as returning the TV to factory settings. Philips’ Safe Mode guidance for the models it covers gives the restart path as Settings > About > Restart. It also warns that holding OK for more than two seconds can offer a Safe Mode reboot. These directions are model-specific; consult the Philips Safe Mode support page to confirm they apply to your set.

The Philips instructions cited here do not establish a universal button combination for resetting a TV when its menus are inaccessible. Check the manual or support page for the exact model. The Philips user manual advises, “Do not attempt to repair the TV yourself,” and directs owners to Philips TV support for troubleshooting and repair assistance.
