Phantom Blade Zero requirements at a glance
PlayStation describes Phantom Blade Zero as “A dark wuxia action RPG powered by Unreal Engine 5.” The official PC listings publish two hardware tiers, but they do not promise a particular result on every computer. The minimum tier is a baseline for launching and playing with upscaling enabled, while the recommended tier is a stronger starting point for higher visual settings or steadier performance. These are the specifications published by the storefronts, not an independent benchmark. Meeting a tier does not guarantee a fixed frame rate because results also depend on game settings, drivers, background applications, cooling, laptop power limits and the final build. The processor names are alternatives rather than components that must be installed together: one listed Intel or AMD CPU, paired with one listed graphics card, satisfies the corresponding published class.

Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit
A 32-bit installation is outside the stated support. To check your edition, open Settings > System > About and look at “System type.” It should report a 64-bit operating system and processor. If Windows reports 32-bit, the practical fix is a clean 64-bit installation after backing up your files; an in-place change from 32-bit to 64-bit is not available.

Processor tier
The minimum CPUs are the Intel Core i7-8700K and AMD Ryzen 5 3600. The recommended alternatives are the Intel Core i5-10600K and AMD Ryzen 5 5600X. These model comparisons are not a simple “higher i7 always beats lower i5” rule: generation, core layout, cooling and sustained clock speed matter. A newer processor not named in the listing may be faster, but the official page does not certify every unlisted model. Use the named chips as a reference point rather than treating the labels alone as a guarantee.
Graphics card and video memory
The minimum graphics class is a GeForce GTX 1660 with 6 GB of video memory or a Radeon RX 5500 XT with 8 GB. The recommended class is a GeForce RTX 3060 Ti with 8 GB or a Radeon RX 6700 XT with 12 GB. The listings do not publish a separate ray-tracing requirement, so you should not assume that enabling ray tracing is part of either tier. Laptop GPUs can carry the same family name as desktop cards while running at different power limits; check the exact laptop model and its wattage before relying on a desktop comparison.
16 GB of RAM
Both tiers specify 16 GB system memory. This is installed RAM, not graphics memory. A computer with 8 GB falls below the published requirement even if its GPU appears adequate. Close browsers, launchers and recording tools when troubleshooting, but do not treat that as a substitute for the stated capacity. Dual-channel memory and adequate page-file space can affect smoothness, yet the official requirement does not prescribe a memory speed or page-file size.

DirectX 12
DirectX 12 is part of both tiers. On Windows, run dxdiag from the Start menu and inspect the System tab to confirm the installed DirectX version. The Display tabs show the detected graphics adapter and driver information. Updating Windows and the GPU driver is sensible before launch, but a newer driver cannot turn hardware below the listed class into officially compliant hardware.
SSD installation
An SSD is explicitly required; the official listings do not state how many gigabytes of free space the game needs. Install it on an internal SSD or a properly connected compatible SSD rather than assuming an older mechanical hard drive will meet the requirement. Leave additional free space for patches and temporary files, because the published pages give no capacity figure to use as a safe minimum. If the installer says there is not enough room, the storefront’s free-space check takes precedence over any estimate from a third-party system tool.
How to check whether your PC qualifies
- Confirm Windows architecture: go to Settings > System > About. Verify Windows 10 or 11 and a 64-bit system type.
- Identify the CPU and RAM: in the same page, record the processor name and installed RAM. Compare the processor with the minimum and recommended rows above; do not confuse installed RAM with GPU memory.
- Identify the GPU: open Settings > System > Display > Advanced display, or run
dxdiagand open a Display tab. Record the exact GPU model and its dedicated video-memory figure. - Check DirectX: in
dxdiag, confirm DirectX 12 is reported. Also note the driver date and install the latest stable driver offered for your card. - Verify the installation drive: in File Explorer, right-click the intended drive, choose Properties, and confirm it is an SSD with enough free capacity for the storefront’s current installer and future updates.
- Classify the result: a match to every minimum row means the PC reaches the published baseline. A match to the recommended row gives more headroom, but neither classification is a measured performance promise.

The one-day difference is a storefront listing difference, not proof that one platform is permanently delayed. Digital releases can unlock at different regional times. Check the countdown, date and time displayed after signing in to the store for your country before planning an exact launch-hour download.

Choose based on the hardware you already own and the input features you value. There is no published PC-versus-PS5 benchmark that establishes equivalent settings or frame rates, so a direct performance ranking would go beyond the official information.

What the PS5 version adds
The PlayStation product page lists support for the DualSense wireless controller’s adaptive triggers and haptic feedback, along with Tempest 3D AudioTech. Those are console-version features documented by PlayStation; they do not mean a controller is required for the PC version. The same page identifies PS5 Pro Enhanced support, but it does not provide a separate Pro resolution, frame-rate or graphics-mode table.
PlayStation also describes the game as following Soul, “a swordsman with a wounded heart and only sixty-six days left to live,” and lists more than 30 primary weapons and more than 20 unique Phantom Edges. Those are gameplay details rather than hardware requirements, but they help distinguish the title from a simple technology demo when deciding which platform to use.

Platforms that are not confirmed by these listings
The cited official pages confirm Windows PC and PlayStation 5. They do not confirm Xbox, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 or a final Steam Deck compatibility guarantee. A launcher may technically install on an unlisted device, but that is not the same as official support. Wait for a platform-specific announcement before buying hardware or software on the assumption that one of those versions exists.
Common problems and practical fixes
The game refuses to install on a hard drive
Move the installation location to an SSD. Because an SSD is an explicit requirement, freeing space on a mechanical drive does not address the compatibility issue. If the SSD is external, confirm that the storefront and Windows mount it reliably and that the connection remains stable during large downloads.

The PC has 16 GB RAM but still stutters or closes
Check that Windows actually reports 16 GB installed, then close memory-heavy applications and verify the page file is not disabled. Update the GPU driver and Windows, and watch temperatures for CPU or GPU throttling. These steps address common system conditions; they do not change the official requirement or guarantee a particular frame rate.

The GPU model looks close but is not listed
Compare the exact model and VRAM, not only the series name. The official pages name four reference cards and do not publish an exhaustive equivalence chart. If your card is below the minimum class, treat the machine as unconfirmed rather than assuming a similar-sounding product will perform identically. A laptop variant, integrated GPU or card with less video memory deserves additional caution.
The store shows a different release day
Use the date and time displayed by the store account in your region. Steam currently shows October 28, 2026; Epic Games Store and PlayStation show October 29, 2026. Time-zone conversion, regional release policy or a later storefront update can change the local unlock moment without changing the platform itself.
Bottom line for buyers
A Windows PC is a sensible choice when it has 64-bit Windows 10/11, 16 GB RAM, DirectX 12, an SSD, and at least the listed GTX 1660 or RX 5500 XT graphics tier. The RTX 3060 Ti or RX 6700 XT tier is the stronger official target, but no recommended frame-rate promise is published. PS5 is the simpler hardware path and adds documented DualSense and Tempest 3D AudioTech features. Confirm the regional storefront date, check the exact components in your machine, and do not assume support for Xbox, Switch, PS4 or Steam Deck until an official listing says so.
