Paymo lets you record time against project tasks using a timer, manual entries, desktop activity capture, or its mobile app. It combines those workflows with project management, timesheets, reports, and invoicing. The right approach depends on whether you want to start and stop a timer yourself, enter hours later, or review desktop activity before assigning it to work.
How Paymo time tracking works
Paymo connects time entries to projects and tasks, so tracked hours can be reviewed in timesheets and used in reporting and invoicing workflows. Its product pages describe access through the web, desktop apps, and mobile apps. See Paymo’s feature overview.

There are several ways to capture time: start and stop a task timer, add an entry manually, enter time in bulk, or use Paymo Track to record desktop-app activity for later review. The mobile app also supports time entry. These are alternative workflows within Paymo, not separate time-tracking products.

What “automatic” tracking means
Paymo Track can record activity across desktop apps, but that does not mean every activity is automatically classified correctly as a project task. Paymo’s documented workflow has you review recorded entries and match them to tasks and projects. Check and correct those assignments before relying on the resulting timesheet or report.
Paymo also described a desktop widget in a March 20, 2026 post as being in beta, with timers synchronized between the widget and web app. The post said mobile support was forthcoming at that time. Beta status and the mobile roadmap are dated statements, not confirmation of current availability; check Paymo’s blog or the product before depending on the widget.

- Live report: up-to-date information when someone accesses the report. Paymo says live reports require a paid plan.
This matters when sharing results: a snapshot preserves the data as it stood when generated, while a live report can show newer information when opened. Paymo explains the difference in its static-versus-live reports help article.

Plan access is not identical across tiers. The current pricing page lists timesheet reports as a Plus feature and timesheet approvals as a Pro feature. Check the live Paymo pricing page for the exact feature wording and eligibility before choosing a plan.

Paymo’s pricing page lists four plans: Free, Solo, Plus, and Pro. Its listed distinctions relevant to time tracking and team use are summarized below. Prices are not included because Paymo’s page has shown a time-limited introductory offer, and the displayed amounts or eligibility can change.

These are the distinctions identified on Paymo’s current pricing page. For current prices, billing frequency, trials, offer conditions, and any changes to plan limits, use that page rather than relying on older help documentation. Paymo’s separate pricing-plans help article lists standard monthly and annual-billing prices, but those figures should not be treated as the live offer.

Paymo’s mobile product page describes stopwatch, interval, and duration entry, plus the ability to view active timers and review or edit timesheets. It also says timesheet data can be turned into an invoice. The documented mobile workflow is therefore useful both for capturing time away from a desk and for checking or correcting logged hours later. See Paymo’s mobile app page.
Integrations and connected workflows
Paymo’s integrations help article names Slack, QuickBooks Online, Xero, Typeform, JotForm, Google Sign Up Form, Google Drive, Google Calendar, Adobe Creative Cloud, Zapier, LambdaTest, Shift, PomoDone, GrandTotal, and Paymo’s API. The article describes both authentication-based connections and guided setups. Its plan guidance uses legacy names—“Small Office” and “Business”—that do not match the current Free, Solo, Plus, and Pro plan names. Treat its integration list as a starting point, and verify current availability and plan eligibility before selecting a workflow.
