There is no best movie library for everyone. Tom’s Guide’s September 6, 2026 comparison names HBO Max its overall library winner, while describing Disney+/Hulu as a broad contender and criticizing Paramount+ for lacking major movie franchises. But the best choice for you depends on which films you want, whether they’re included with the subscription, and what’s available in your country today.
How the services compare
The available comparisons are editorial assessments, not a movie-by-movie audit or a universal ranking. Tom’s Guide favors HBO Max, citing Warner Bros. and A24 films, and identifies Disney+/Hulu as a contender with broad appeal. Its assessment says Paramount+ lacks major movie franchises. Those judgments are useful starting points, but they do not establish that one service is best for every genre, audience, or watchlist. Tom’s Guide’s 2026 streaming report card compares libraries alongside other service features.

| Service or group | What the cited comparison says | What that means for a movie viewer |
|---|---|---|
| HBO Max | Tom’s Guide’s September 6, 2026 editorial comparison places it first for its overall library, pointing to Warner Bros. and A24 films. | A strong starting point if the titles in those catalogs match your interests; the assessment is not a guarantee that any particular film is currently included. |
| Disney+/Hulu | Tom’s Guide describes the services as a broad contender. | Worth comparing against your own list, especially if their available categories and films appeal to you. |
| Paramount+ | Tom’s Guide says it lacks major movie franchises. Paramount+ itself groups movies into categories including action, comedy, documentary, drama, horror, sci-fi and fantasy, and thriller. | Its category range shows variety, but does not prove a larger or better library than competitors. Check whether its actual available films fit your list. |
Studio catalogs are not the same thing as live streaming catalogs. The Associated Press names Top Gun, Titanic, and The Godfather among titles in Paramount’s catalog, and Harry Potter, Sinners, Barbie, and Superman among Warner titles. These examples do not confirm that any of those films is currently streaming on a particular service. The AP report discusses a possible Paramount-Warner combination; it should not be read as evidence that a catalog change has taken place.

A large or exclusive catalog is not automatically a better one for you. Compare services on the qualities that affect your actual viewing:
#1 Best Overall
- Watch over 40,000 full episodes on demand from hit series like Survivor, NCIS, Big Brother and more
- Get hooked on subscriber-only originals
- Make every night a movie night with blockbuster hits and fan-favorite films
- To Redeem: Go to paramountplus.com/redeem
- No returns and no refunds on gift cards.
- Specific-title coverage: Are the films you want included in the subscription, or only available to rent, buy, or access through an add-on?
- Franchise and studio fit: Count the titles you would actually watch, rather than relying on a studio’s name or a list of associated franchises.
- Genre and audience fit: Paramount+ lists New & Popular, Kids & Family, Action & Adventure, Comedy, Documentary, Drama, Horror, Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Thriller, and Showtime. These categories show the range it promotes, not its comparative size.
- Breadth versus selectivity: Decide whether you want variety across many types of films or a smaller set of specific titles you already know you want.
- Country and timing: Availability can change by location and date. A U.S. listing or an older comparison may not reflect what is offered where you live now.
Paramount+’s movie page shows the categories it uses to organize films. It does not provide a standardized comparison of library size or quality against other services.
How to compare services for your watchlist
- Make a list of five to ten films or franchises you want to watch. Include specific movies where possible, not only studio or franchise names.
- Look up each title for your country. JustWatch’s U.S. movie guide lets you filter by service and offers filters for genre, rating, release year, production country, runtime, and age rating. If you are outside the U.S., use availability information for your own country.
- Check how each title is offered. Separate movies included with a service’s subscription from those available only to rent, buy, or access through an add-on.
- Compare the matches, then consider the rest of the catalog. Choose the service with the strongest mix of included titles you want and categories you are likely to browse.
- Recheck before subscribing or renewing. Availability changes, so treat a title lookup as a snapshot rather than a permanent promise.
Why exclusivity percentages do not settle the question
A July 2025 Movistar Plus press-roundup PDF reproduces Gracenote Data Hub figures for 2024: exclusive titles made up 73.5% of Netflix’s library, 75.7% of Disney+’s, 91.1% of Prime Video’s, and 62.5% of Paramount+’s. These percentages refer to each service’s library titles, not movies alone, and the figures are a secondary reproduction of Gracenote data. They cannot establish which service has the largest movie library or the best films. The same passage cautions that catalog size and exclusivity alone are not the key to engagement. Movistar Plus’s July 2025 press roundup contains the reproduced figures.
