To pair AirPods with a Windows 11 laptop, turn on Bluetooth, put your AirPods model into pairing mode, then add them from Windows’ Bluetooth device list. AirPods work as a Bluetooth headset on Windows, but Siri is not available on a non-Apple device.
Before you start
- Make sure the AirPods and case have enough charge, and keep them near the laptop.
- Check that the laptop has Bluetooth. Most Windows devices include it; if yours does not, a USB Bluetooth adapter can add Bluetooth support.
- Identify your AirPods model before starting. The pairing control differs between case designs.
Put your AirPods into pairing mode
AirPods 1, 2, or 3; AirPods Pro 1 or 2
Put both AirPods in the charging case and open the lid. Hold the setup button on the back of the case for about five seconds, or until the status light flashes white.

AirPods 4 or 5; AirPods Pro 3
With the AirPods inside, open the case and double-tap the front of the case. Continue until the status light flashes white.

Hold the listening mode button for about five seconds, or until the status light flashes white.

The flashing white light indicates that the AirPods are ready to pair. Do not assume every AirPods case has a rear setup button; use the gesture for your model.
Add AirPods in Windows 11
- On the laptop, open Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices and turn on Bluetooth. You can also turn it on from Quick Settings, opened by selecting the network, sound, or battery icon on the taskbar.
- In Quick Settings, open the Bluetooth device control and choose the option to manage or add a Bluetooth device. Alternatively, in Settings, choose the option to add a device under Bluetooth & devices.
- Choose Bluetooth if Windows asks what kind of device to add.
- When your AirPods appear in the list, select them and follow any on-screen prompts to finish pairing.
Windows uses its own Bluetooth device list; it does not show the iPhone-style pairing pop-up. After a successful pairing, the laptop can reconnect to the AirPods automatically when Bluetooth is on and both devices are in range.

If Windows cannot find or connect to the AirPods
AirPods do not appear in the device list
- Check that Bluetooth is on and the AirPods are actively in pairing mode; look for the flashing white status light.
- Keep the case or AirPods near the laptop and check that they have charge.
- Turn Bluetooth off and back on, then try searching again.
- If the laptop has no Bluetooth control, check its specifications or Windows device support information. A USB Bluetooth adapter is an option for a PC without Bluetooth.
- If the problem continues, check for Windows updates and current Bluetooth drivers. Bluetooth driver or update issues can prevent discovery or pairing.
AirPods appear but pairing fails
Remove the AirPods from the laptop’s Bluetooth device list, then put them back into pairing mode and add them again. In Windows, open Settings > Bluetooth & devices, select the AirPods entry, and use the remove-device control. Then repeat the pairing steps above.

Windows says connected, but there is no sound
- Open Windows sound settings and select the AirPods as the audio output.
- If sound still does not work, toggle Bluetooth off and back on, then try removing and pairing the AirPods again.
- Check the selected output format and update the laptop’s Bluetooth drivers if needed.
What to expect from AirPods audio on Windows
Basic listening and speaking over Bluetooth are supported, but AirPods do not provide Siri on a non-Apple device. Do not assume that every Windows PC will offer the same call quality or audio behavior as an Apple device: available features depend on the AirPods, the computer’s hardware, and its drivers.

In particular, Bluetooth LE Audio is not a universal Windows 11 feature. It requires compatible Windows 11 hardware, drivers, audio support, and a headset that supports LE Audio. Microsoft describes stereo playback while using a microphone for qualifying Windows 11 version 24H2-or-newer PCs with built-in LE Audio support and updated drivers; that capability should not be assumed for every AirPods-and-PC combination.
These steps reflect Apple and Microsoft support guidance checked on October 7, 2026. Model controls and Windows labels may change; consult the manufacturers’ current support pages if the instructions no longer match your device.
