But they are not a universal runtime upgrade: Make: reviewer Sam Freeman found they outlasted NiMH in some tests, while alkaline lasted longer in another. The right choice depends on your device, the charger and adapters you need, and the upfront cost.
What Linogy sells
Linogy offers 1.5V Li-ion AA and AAA cells, an eight-bay charger, and bundles that combine cells with the charger. The listed Essential Bundle includes eight AA cells rated at 3,600mWh each, four AAA cells rated at 1,300mWh each, two AAA converters, and the charger. Other configurations include a Deluxe bundle, separate eight-AA and eight-AAA packs, and a portable four-slot charger. How they performed in an independent review
In a review published by Make: on April 24, 2026, with the page also displaying August 28, 2026, Sam Freeman reported that Linogy cells maintained a higher voltage than NiMH cells for longer in some uses. A fully charged Linogy AA sample measured about 1.7V in Freeman’s testing. That is an observation about one sample, not a guarantee that every cell or device will show the same result. Freeman’s review describes the tests and outcomes.

- Color-changing lights ran longer on Linogy than on NiMH, but not as long as on alkaline batteries.
- A Kit Cat Klock’s tail motor ran for two weeks with the tested Linogy cells.
- In a plasma globe, Linogy lasted more than 20% longer than NiMH in Freeman’s test.
These are device-specific observations, not controlled evidence of a general runtime advantage. They do not establish that Linogy will last longer than alkaline or NiMH in your device.

Check compatibility before buying
Linogy says its cells work in most devices designed for disposable batteries, including remotes, toys, cameras, keyboards, mice, and flashlights. “Most” is not “all”: matching AA or AAA size does not confirm that a device can safely or reliably use a Li-ion cell with regulated output. Check the device manual for voltage and chemistry requirements, particularly for equipment sensitive to cell voltage. Linogy recommends its own batteries for the best system experience and sells sleeves for using AAA cells in AA-sized compartments. Charger and adapter trade-offs
Freeman found the charger reliable with Linogy cells and three brands of NiMH batteries, but described it as bulky and the AAA adapters as fiddly. Linogy lists the eight-slot charger with USB-C 5V/3A input, independent slots, and support for Li-ion, NiMH, and NiCd cells. The manufacturer lists its operating range as 0–35°C; that is a stated specification, not an independent test result. Check the exact charger model and its instructions before use.

What Linogy’s specifications do—and do not—tell you
For the AA Pro, Linogy lists a capacity of 3,600mWh, a weight of 20g ±1g, 1.5V initial and output voltage, a three-hour charging time, and a charging current of 350 ±20mA. It lists a charging temperature range of 0–45°C and up to 1,200 cycles. These are manufacturer specifications, and should not be treated as independently measured performance or as guarantees for every model, device, or charging condition. Linogy estimates three to five years of service with proper care, depending on use and storage; that estimate is also from the manufacturer.
Safety, travel, and disposal
Linogy’s safety notice for its Li-ion AA/AAA batteries sold in EU member states says not to short-circuit, crush, incinerate, or expose cells to excessive heat, and to keep them away from children. It also advises following carrier and airline restrictions. Rules for carrying lithium batteries differ by airline and jurisdiction, so check the current requirements for your route rather than assuming ordinary AA-battery rules apply. The notice directs EU consumers to designated battery collection points, not household waste, and names MAKEBLOCK EUROPE B.V. as providing recycling solutions in the EU/EEA and UK, with local take-back details to be published as available.
