Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsShort answer: PagePeeker is the closer fit for straightforward website thumbnails when its fixed dimensions and API-call billing suit your workflow. Urlbox is the broader rendering API if you also need outputs such as PDFs, videos, extracted text or metadata, or asynchronous jobs. Neither is a proven speed or reliability winner: compare them using your own URLs, regions, capture settings and expected request volume. If you want a third option to try first, ScreenshotNeo combines clean captures, billing that excludes failed and cached shots, and an entry paid plan of $5 for 3,000 shots.
PagePeeker vs Urlbox at a glance
| Question | PagePeeker | Urlbox |
|---|---|---|
| Best fit | Thumbnail workflows that align with the listed image sizes and API-call accounting. | Workflows that need multiple render outputs or synchronous and asynchronous integration options. |
| Inputs and outputs | Website thumbnails and screenshots through its V2 API; full-page capture is documented for premium users. | URL and HTML inputs; screenshots, PDFs, videos, and text, HTML, or metadata extraction are documented. |
| Integration patterns | Direct image linking, JavaScript wrappers, server-side APIs, optional API codes, and readiness checks. | Embeddable render links and synchronous or asynchronous POST requests, with polling or webhooks for async jobs. |
| Published usage unit | API calls. Displays, readiness checks, and other API requests can count as calls, not just image creation. | Successful renders. Cached render-link requests do not count against quota; first-time renders and REST API renders do. |
| Evidence on comparative speed or reliability | No independent head-to-head result establishes an advantage. | No independent head-to-head result establishes an advantage. |
These are hosted services: the vendor runs the browser rendering infrastructure, so you call an API or use a render link rather than maintaining a capture browser yourself. The best choice depends on the output you need and how your application uses it—not on treating an API call and a render as equivalent units.

What each service documents
PagePeeker: thumbnail-oriented capture
PagePeeker identifies V2 as its current recommended API; its documentation says V1 has been discontinued and redirects to V2. The V2 documentation describes direct linking, JavaScript wrappers, server-side APIs, optional API codes, and a flow for requesting or refreshing a thumbnail, checking when it is ready, and retrieving it. It also describes response headers for capture method, capture time, final redirected URL, capture hash, timestamp, and error status. See the PagePeeker API documentation.

Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Documented standard thumbnail dimensions include 90×68, 120×90, 200×150, 400×300, and 480×360 pixels. The pricing table lists up to 480×360 on Basic and Advanced; other sizes may be available to premium accounts. PagePeeker separately describes premium full-page capture with configurable page width, maximum captured height, compression, generated thumbnail sizing, overlay text, and wait behavior. Confirm those options against the account you plan to use. See PagePeeker’s full-page capture page.

Urlbox: broader rendering and job workflows
Urlbox documents URL and HTML rendering to screenshots, PDFs, and videos, plus extraction of text, HTML, and metadata. Its integration options include render links and synchronous or asynchronous POST requests. Async jobs can be polled or handled with webhooks. These are vendor-documented capabilities; confirm the relevant feature is included in the plan and request mode you intend to use. See the Urlbox documentation.
Urlbox lists examples such as image previews, viewport checks, repeated captures, PDF generation, extraction, and scheduled or no-code workflows. Those examples do not by themselves establish suitability for a particular archival, compliance, or monitoring requirement.

Compare the billing units before estimating cost
The following prices and quotas are figures published on vendor pages accessed in 2026. Pricing, quotas, and plan features can change; check the linked pricing pages before committing. PagePeeker’s listed unit is API calls per month, while Urlbox’s is renders, so the quota totals are not directly comparable.

PagePeeker’s FAQ says that displaying an already-created thumbnail, creating one when it is not cached, checking readiness, and other API calls each add to API-call usage. Unused quota does not roll over. Its FAQ describes pay-as-you-go only for premium accounts doing over five million API calls per month, with terms to discuss with the vendor. Read the PagePeeker FAQ.

Urlbox’s pricing page labels included successful renders and says failed requests are not charged as successful renders. Render links are cached for 30 days by default; TTL and force options are available, and cached render-link requests do not count against quota. First-time renders and REST API renders do count. Check the request mode in your integration before forecasting usage. Details are on Urlbox’s pricing page.
Choose by workload, not headline quota
Choose PagePeeker when
- Your main output is a thumbnail and the listed dimensions meet the product requirement.
- Direct image links, server-side requests, or its readiness-check flow fit your integration.
- You have modeled API calls from image displays, readiness polling, cache misses, and other requests—not only the number of pages captured.
- You have confirmed whether full-page capture or a non-standard size requires a premium account.
Choose Urlbox when
- Your application needs more than a thumbnail, such as PDF or video output or text, HTML, or metadata extraction.
- You need an async job workflow with polling or webhooks, or prefer its render-link pattern.
- Your volume and request mix make sense under its successful-render allowance and cache behavior.
- You have verified that the desired output and quality are available on the plan you would buy.
Put ScreenshotNeo on the shortlist first
For a website screenshot API with a $5 paid entry plan for 3,000 shots, ScreenshotNeo is worth trying first: it removes cookie banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture, and only clean shots are billed. Its response identifies page verdict and billing status. It also offers an MCP server for AI agents. These distinctions matter if your automation would otherwise spend time on noisy pages or count failed captures as usable output. Details are at ScreenshotNeo.
Run a fair proof of concept

- Choose representative URLs. Include your common page types, pages with dynamic content, pages behind the access conditions you actually support, and examples from the geographic regions your users need.
- Specify the expected output. Record viewport dimensions, full-page needs, file type, PDF settings, extraction fields, and any wait or refresh behavior. Do not compare a small thumbnail with a full-page render as if they were the same task.
- Exercise the real integration path. For PagePeeker, include thumbnail requests, readiness checks, and image displays. For Urlbox, distinguish render links from REST requests and try the polling or webhook flow if you expect to use it.
- Check the resulting artifacts. Inspect completeness, redirects, timing of dynamic elements, image loading, and any output-specific requirements. Record failures and unusable results rather than counting only successful examples.
- Estimate monthly usage from requests, not URLs alone. Apply each service’s billing rules to recaptures, polls, displays, cache hits, and failures. Compare the resulting plan cost at your expected volume and at a realistic growth level.
- Repeat enough times to expose variability. A few successful captures cannot establish production reliability or a general speed winner.
Costs, performance, and reliability in practice
Model the request pattern
For PagePeeker, estimate API calls across thumbnail creation or refresh, readiness checks, and each display or other API request counted by its FAQ. Polling too frequently can make API-call usage rise faster than the number of distinct URLs. For Urlbox, separate cached render-link requests from first-time renders and REST API renders, which the pricing page says count against quota. Use your application’s actual request pattern rather than dividing the plan price by the visible allowance and assuming each URL costs one unit.
Treat speed figures as vendor listings
PagePeeker lists typical rendering ranges by plan: 10–20 seconds for Basic, 5–15 seconds for Advanced, and under five seconds for Premium. These are vendor-published figures, not independent measurements or a guarantee for a particular site, region, or capture configuration. The reviewed Urlbox information does not establish a comparable independent benchmark. Measure end-to-end completion time with your own pages and settings.

Set operational expectations with a test
The vendor materials reviewed do not establish which service is more reliable for every workload. Test timeouts, redirects, dynamic pages, retries, and output validation in the same regions and integration mode you will deploy. If captures support a critical process, define what counts as a usable artifact and what your system should do when a job is delayed or fails.
