The OnePlus 15 is the newer phone, with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, a larger listed battery and a display that can reach 165Hz in gaming. The OnePlus 12 has a 2K display and the same listed US wired and wireless charging rates. OnePlus announced North American launch prices of $899.99 and $999.99 for the OnePlus 15, but a current like-for-like price difference cannot be established without checking live listings.

What changes with the OnePlus 15?
Newer listed processor
OnePlus lists the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in the OnePlus 15 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in the OnePlus 12. That makes the 15 the newer platform on paper, but the specifications alone do not establish how much faster it is in particular apps or games. No independent benchmark comparison is established here.

Higher gaming refresh ceiling, not higher resolution
The OnePlus 12 is marketed with a 2K, 120Hz display. The OnePlus 15 specification page lists a 2772 × 1272 panel with adaptive refresh from 1Hz to 120Hz and a 165Hz maximum in gaming. That higher gaming ceiling does not mean the 15 has higher resolution: refresh rate and resolution describe different display characteristics.
More stated battery capacity
OnePlus lists 7300mAh for the OnePlus 15 and 5400mAh typical equivalent capacity for the OnePlus 12. Capacity is not a battery-life test; actual endurance also depends on workload, settings, network conditions and other factors. The cited material does not provide an independent, like-for-like endurance result.

Charging rates match in the cited US specifications
Both phones are listed with 80W SUPERVOOC wired charging and 50W AIRVOOC wireless charging on their US product specifications. Those matching rated wattages do not establish identical charging times under every condition, but they do not show a charging-wattage increase for the 15.
OnePlus 12 vs OnePlus 15 price difference
OnePlus’s November 2025 North American launch announcement set the OnePlus 15 launch MSRP at $899.99 for 12GB/256GB and $999.99 for 16GB/512GB. OnePlus cautioned that US pricing may change (North American launch announcement).
Those are launch prices, not a current quote. A current US OnePlus 12 price and a dated, like-for-like price comparison are not established here, so it would be misleading to subtract one from the other. For a useful comparison, check current listings in your market and match storage, condition and seller: new against new, refurbished against refurbished, and used against used.

Is the OnePlus 15 worth upgrading to from the OnePlus 12?
The specification case for upgrading is strongest if you specifically want the newer listed processor, a larger stated battery capacity, or the 165Hz gaming refresh option. The case is less clear if your priorities are the OnePlus 12’s 2K display or charging rates, because the cited specifications show no 15 advantage on those points. The available product specifications cannot establish real-world performance, battery endurance or whether the upgrade is worth its current price to you.

Software versions on the product pages also differ: OnePlus presents OxygenOS 14 for the 12 and OxygenOS 16 based on Android 16 for the 15. Those listed versions document a generation difference, not each phone’s current update status or future update schedule.
What the support information does—and does not—show
A 2025 OnePlus regulatory declaration for model CPH2747 specifies a six-year support period through 13 November 2031 (OnePlus regulatory declaration). This is a UK declaration tied to that model; it is not enough to establish a global support-duration comparison with the OnePlus 12.
