Keep stable names, descriptions, and usage rules in a canonical source; generate or package artwork for each target; and validate the result on every surface.
What should one shared icon catalog contain?
A catalog is more than a folder of image files. It is the shared contract that tells designers and developers what an icon is called, what it means, and how it should be used. Give each icon a stable name and record its source artwork, semantic description, category, status, and any approved variants.

Stable names let different packages expose the same concept even when their runtime representations differ. For example, a web adapter and a React Native adapter can both offer the same catalog name while rendering artwork in a way suited to their platform. Avoid separately maintained copies whose names, meanings, or versions can drift.
Consistency is semantic as well as visual. The U.S. Web Design System (USWDS) says: “Icons used more than once in an application or site must be used to represent the same thing, and have the same text description in every instance.” USWDS icon guidance also recommends pairing icons with text when that improves clarity.

- EASY TO USE, FUN TO SHARE: No tools or trimming required—just peel, place, and adjust until it feels right. A simple way to refresh everyday items, and a thoughtful little gift for sticker lovers or anyone who enjoys adding personality to daily life.
How do I share one icon library across web and mobile?
Keep canonical catalog data separate from the adapters that deliver it. Generate surface-specific assets or package adapters from the shared source, then give each platform an API that fits its rendering and build environment. The public names should stay aligned wherever the underlying concept is shared; the implementation does not have to.
Web: use a delivery form suited to the app
One web option is an SVG sprite. USWDS demonstrates referring to symbols in a sprite with SVG <use> and using currentColor so an icon can inherit the surrounding text color. This can centralize repeated vector artwork, but deployment paths and browser behavior still need to be checked in the actual application. The documentation does not establish that sprites are faster or better than other web formats in every project.
React Native: choose imports with the native build in mind
For React Native, the package route and import style affect build and bundle tradeoffs. Font Awesome documents both Kit packages and style-specific SVG packages, and recommends deep imports when bundle size and build speed matter because Metro handles tree-shaking differently from web bundlers. See its React Native icon instructions. Treat that as implementation guidance for the documented package options, not a guarantee of a particular bundle result; inspect your own target build.

Apple app icons: keep platform-owned assets distinct
An app launcher icon is not the same thing as an in-interface glyph. Apple’s asset-catalog documentation describes supplying individual app-icon variants or using a high-resolution source image to generate some variations, with requirements that differ by platform. Follow the target’s asset-catalog requirements rather than assuming the interface-icon pipeline also governs app icons. See Apple’s app-icon asset-catalog documentation.
A shared catalog does not mean overriding platform-specific asset rules or replacing symbols that the operating system owns. Whether to use a platform’s own symbols for in-app UI depends on the exact OS and design system; the cited Apple page concerns app icons and does not provide general in-app symbol guidance.
How should a design system manage icons across platforms?
- Define the catalog contract. Record stable names, meanings, descriptions, categories, status, source artwork, and approved variants. Decide which names are public to consuming applications.
- Keep semantics canonical. Update the shared record when an icon’s meaning or description changes, and propagate that change to each output rather than editing platform copies independently.
- Build surface-specific delivery. Generate assets or publish adapters appropriate to each target—for example, a web SVG or sprite adapter and a React Native adapter—while keeping shared concepts consistently named.
- Make accessibility behavior explicit. Each adapter should let consumers treat an icon as decorative or provide an accessible name when it conveys meaning on its own. Put actions and interaction semantics on the surrounding button, link, or other functional component.
- Validate each shipped output. Check the rendered result and accessibility behavior in the actual application, and confirm which assets the target build includes.
What accessibility rules belong in the icon contract?
Decorative icons should not create redundant announcements for screen-reader users. A meaningful standalone icon needs a descriptive accessible name, while an icon whose meaning may be unclear should not carry the message alone: pair it with text where that helps users understand it. These rules must be implemented by the consuming component, not assumed from the artwork itself. USWDS covers consistency and these usage principles in its icon guidance.

- Ample Quantity: You will get 20 sheets of self-adhesive paper decorative stickers, 30 pieces per sheet, totaling 600 pcs. Each sheet is about 3.54 × 3.54 inches (9 × 9 cm), with compact and delicate mini size, making it easy to decorate various small spaces and meet your daily planning and decoration needs
- Black And White Icon Design: These planner stickers feature black and white icon designs, with simple and elegant styles that are not easy to fade. The icons cover daily and seasonal elements like shopping, birthdays, travel, and swimming, which can clearly mark your schedule and add a minimalist and stylish touch to your planners and calendars
- Premium Quality: All planner stickers are made of high-quality paper, which is thin, smooth and has a comfortable touch. The self-adhesive design is easy to use—just tear off the bottom paper and stick it directly, without additional glue. It is also suitable for party decoration and decorative presents sealing, adding a delicate touch to these occasions
- Easy to Use: First, clean and dry the surface of the object to be decorated; then tear off the bottom paper of the sticker; finally, align the sticker with the target position and paste it firmly, ensuring no gaps. It should be noted that these stickers are not suitable for rough and uneven surfaces, and the best decorative effect can be achieved on smooth surfaces
- Practical Planning Helper: As a practical daily planning tool, these stickers allow you to mark your life at a glance. You can quickly identify and recall your commitments, daily tasks and holiday arrangements, making your schedule more organized and your planning process more efficient
Check contrast in context, too. USWDS’s icon accessibility tests specify at least 3:1 contrast between an icon and its background as an implementation check. A catalog cannot guarantee that ratio across every color, theme, or placement, so test the rendered combination.
How should teams choose and validate delivery formats?
There is no universally best icon format established by the cited documentation. Choose according to the consuming surface’s rendering conventions, accessibility needs, build behavior, deployment setup, and the team’s ability to generate and version outputs consistently. For bundle or build concerns, measure the actual application rather than transferring assumptions from a different bundler or platform.
- Appearance: Does the icon remain recognizable at the sizes and densities used by the target?
- Platform fit: Does the output follow the target’s asset and rendering requirements?
- Semantics: Do names and descriptions remain consistent across adapters?
- Accessibility: Is decorative artwork hidden from assistive technology, and does meaningful standalone artwork receive an appropriate name? Is contrast sufficient in the actual context?
- Build and delivery: Does the intended build include only what it needs, and do paths, packaging, and caching behave correctly in deployment?
- Source and distribution rights: Has the team reviewed licensing for the actual artwork and the way it will be distributed?
The references provide examples and implementation advice, not comparative performance measurements or a universal release-governance recipe. Teams should assess their own outputs and establish a versioning and release process that fits their packages.
