Neither one.com nor IONOS is the clear winner for every buyer. Compare the exact hosting type you need, how many websites it supports, the renewal price and the included WordPress features—not just the introductory offer. The available plan information does not establish that either provider is faster or more reliable overall.
How to compare one.com and IONOS fairly
Compare shared hosting with shared hosting, or managed WordPress hosting with managed WordPress hosting. IONOS’s shared and WordPress plans are separate product lines: its shared-hosting page lists unlimited websites, while each WordPress plan is for one website. The included features and storage also differ.

Prices below are the USD monthly figures displayed on the providers’ US pages, before applicable taxes. Introductory prices apply to the stated first-year term and are not the ongoing cost. Confirm the amount due, renewal date, bundled-term conditions and any required add-ons at checkout.
What do the shared-hosting plans cost?
The providers’ US shared-hosting pages show the following prices and allowances. IONOS lists unlimited websites on all four tiers; one.com’s current US landing page lists one website for its Starter example. one.com’s higher landing-page tiers have additional allowances, but their exact current values and offer conditions should be checked at checkout.
#1 Best Overall
| Provider and plan | First-year price | Renewal price | Storage and sites shown | Other listed details |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| one.com Starter | $2.99/month for one year; $35.88 paid initially | $107.88 for the renewal term; the page also displays a regular price of $8.99/month | 25 GB SSD; one website | One-year domain, 1 GB RAM, one CPU priority unit, one email account, SSL, unlimited traffic, one-click WordPress installation and daily backups. | IONOS Essential | $4/month for one year | $8/month | 100 GB NVMe; unlimited websites | One email account; one-year domain. Source: IONOS US shared-hosting page. |
| IONOS Starter | $6/month for one year | $10/month | 200 GB NVMe; unlimited websites | Two email accounts; one-year domain. Source: IONOS US shared-hosting page. |
| IONOS Plus | $1/month for one year | $14/month | 350 GB NVMe; unlimited websites | Four email accounts; one-year domain. Its low introductory price is followed by a substantially higher renewal price. Source: IONOS US shared-hosting page. |
| IONOS Ultimate | $10/month for one year | $18/month | 500 GB NVMe; unlimited websites | Five email accounts; one-year domain. Source: IONOS US shared-hosting page. |
IONOS lists ascending CPU priority across its tiers, but the page does not provide a comparable numerical resource measure in the available plan details. Its offers are subject to the terms shown on the page, and taxes may apply. The one.com Starter example also includes daily backups, but storage, site count and introductory price alone do not make it directly equivalent to an IONOS tier.
Which is better for WordPress?
For a WordPress site, distinguish standard hosting with WordPress tools from a dedicated managed WordPress plan. one.com’s current US shared-hosting page advertises one-click WordPress installation and migration. Its newer landing-page plan names do not align neatly with the Beginner, Explorer, Enthusiast and Guru names in its support documentation, so verify the features attached to the specific plan you are buying.

IONOS managed WordPress prices
| Plan | First-year price | Renewal price | Storage, sites and email | Features described |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Start | $5/month for one year | $8/month | 25 GB SSD; one website; one email account | Automatic updates, backups, vulnerability scanning and malware detection, SSL, domain and email. Source: IONOS US WordPress page. |
| Grow | $1/month for one year | $12/month | 50 GB SSD; one website; five email accounts | The page describes higher-tier performance and additional features; verify which are included in this tier at checkout. Source: IONOS US WordPress page. |
| Boost | $12/month for one year | $17/month | 75 GB SSD; one website; ten email accounts | Higher-tier features include malware removal, Jetpack Vault inclusion and AI features. Confirm checkout terms and bundled durations. Source: IONOS US WordPress page. |
IONOS’s WordPress plans include one website each, unlike its shared-hosting page, which advertises unlimited websites. Do not assume an IONOS shared plan includes every managed WordPress maintenance feature.

What one.com’s WordPress documentation says
one.com’s support plan table uses the names Beginner, Explorer, Enthusiast and Guru. It lists one-click WordPress installation and migration from Explorer upward, performance cache from Explorer upward, and staging on Enthusiast and Guru. SSH is listed on Enthusiast and Guru in that table. The table’s storage, RAM and database figures belong to that plan presentation and should not be combined with the newer sales-page Starter example as though they were one current, aligned comparison. The provider says its newer plans added SSH across all plans, so check the live details for the exact plan and region before relying on a feature.

Which provider fits your situation?
- One small site with a tight first-year budget: Compare the full first payment and renewal for the specific plan, then check whether its WordPress setup, backups and email allowance cover your needs. A teaser price does not tell you the continuing cost.
- Several websites on shared hosting: IONOS’s US shared-hosting page lists unlimited websites on its tiers. Check the included resources and other limits as well as the site count. Its managed WordPress plans are limited to one website per plan.
- WordPress staging or migration: Check the precise one.com plan’s current feature list, since its sales-page and support-table plan names differ. On IONOS, compare managed WordPress features with the shared plan rather than assuming they are interchangeable.
- Preference for European infrastructure: one.com says its services run exclusively on European servers. Confirm the service region and data-processing terms for your own account and requirements; an overall regional statement may not answer every compliance question.
- Higher resource requirements: Compare stated storage and the provider’s actual resource limits for the chosen tier. IONOS publishes ascending CPU priority, while one.com’s support table shows CPU priority values under a different plan presentation; those figures should not be treated as a matched benchmark.
Does one.com or IONOS have better speed or uptime?
The available material does not support an independent head-to-head verdict on speed or reliability. one.com advertises 99.9% uptime and makes a comparative claim about its customers’ Core Web Vitals performance versus several providers. It attributes that statement to HTTP Archive data collected June 18, 2026, but the page does not provide the sample, exact metric or underlying analysis. Treat it as one.com’s marketing claim, not as an independently verified comparison. Source: one.com US hosting page.
Rank #4
IONOS’s shared-hosting page advertises 99.99% uptime. That is also a provider-published figure, not a result from a controlled comparison with one.com. The headline percentages are not enough to establish which service will perform better for a particular site.

What to verify before ordering
- Match the product: Decide between shared hosting and managed WordPress first. For a multi-site setup, confirm whether the plan’s site limit applies to your intended arrangement.
- Calculate the real cost: Record the first-term amount due and the renewal amount and timing. Check taxes, domain renewal, optional features and the checkout terms for the offer.
- Confirm included essentials: Verify storage, email and website counts, backups and restore options, migration, staging, and any resource limits you expect to use.
- Check geography and terms: If hosting location matters, confirm the service region and the applicable data-processing terms for your account.
- Recheck current details: Prices and plan features can change. The listed figures are from US-facing provider pages accessed October 7, 2026; confirm the live checkout immediately before purchase.
