If it is, troubleshoot the outgoing connection and stream bitrate. If it stays stable while viewers buffer, check YouTube’s stream health and playback from another device or network instead. Buffering alone does not show that JioFiber is at fault.
First identify where the buffering happens
OBS reports increasing dropped frames
In OBS, watch the dropped-frames counter in the main window while streaming. OBS says dropped frames mean the connection to the remote server is unstable or the selected bitrate cannot be sustained; it also says OBS Studio itself is an extremely unlikely cause. This points you toward upload capacity, the route to YouTube’s ingest server, or local network conditions—not automatically to JioFiber as a whole. OBS Project’s connection troubleshooting guide (updated September 30, 2024) explains the distinction.

OBS is stable, but viewers report buffering
OBS notes that viewers can experience lag, buffering, or constant loading even when the broadcaster is not dropping frames. Check stream health in YouTube Live Control Room and, if possible, view the stream on another device and another network. YouTube transcodes live streams into multiple output formats, but a particular viewer’s device, location, or connection can still limit playback. OBS’s viewer-buffering guidance (June 9, 2021) and YouTube’s live encoder guidance cover these separate sides of the problem.
Lower bitrate to fit stable upload capacity
Use upload speed, not download speed, when judging whether your connection can carry the stream. YouTube says the total stream bitrate should fit within available upload bandwidth and recommends keeping 20% of that bandwidth in reserve. Other people or devices using the connection can reduce what is available to OBS. This is general YouTube guidance, not a JioFiber-specific measurement. See YouTube’s network and encoder recommendations.

- Powerful Dual-Core 900MHz Processor – Handles multiple data streams simultaneously for reliable performance across your devices. Ensures smooth streaming, online gaming, and video conferencing without buffering or lag.
OBS suggests 75% of total upload speed as a starting point when lowering bitrate to address dropped frames. Treat that as a trial starting point, not a guarantee: upload capacity and the route to YouTube can vary. Change one setting at a time, then observe whether dropped frames improve. OBS’s connection troubleshooting guide documents this rule of thumb.
Choose a YouTube bitrate row that matches your stream
YouTube’s recommended bitrate depends on codec, resolution, and frame rate. For H.264, the current guidance lists 6 Mbps for 1080p at 60 fps and 5 Mbps for 1080p at 30 fps. H.265 and AV1 recommendations differ. These are platform recommendations, not measurements of JioFiber performance. Check the current table for your codec and settings rather than treating either example as universal. YouTube’s encoder settings page lists the recommendations.

- DUAL-BAND WIFI 6 ROUTER: Wi-Fi 6(802.11ax) technology achieves faster speeds, greater capacity and reduced network congestion compared to the previous gen. All WiFi routers require a separate modem. Dual-Band WiFi routers do not support the 6 GHz band.
- AX1800: Enjoy smoother and more stable streaming, gaming, downloading with 1.8 Gbps total bandwidth (up to 1200 Mbps on 5 GHz and up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz). Performance varies by conditions, distance to devices, and obstacles such as walls.
- CONNECT MORE DEVICES: Wi-Fi 6 technology communicates more data to more devices simultaneously using revolutionary OFDMA technology
- EXTENSIVE COVERAGE: Achieve the strong, reliable WiFi coverage with Archer AX1800 as it focuses signal strength to your devices far away using Beamforming technology, 4 high-gain antennas and an advanced front-end module (FEM) chipset
- OUR CYBERSECURITY COMMITMENT: TP-Link is a signatory of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) Secure-by-Design pledge. This device is designed, built, and maintained, with advanced security as a core requirement.
In OBS, open Settings → Output and reduce Video Bitrate. Make a modest change, apply it, and watch the dropped-frames counter during a representative stream. If you lower the bitrate substantially, check the resulting picture quality as well as connection stability.
Check the YouTube encoder settings
YouTube’s current encoder guidance specifies RTMP or RTMPS, constant bitrate (CBR), frame rates up to 60 fps, and a recommended keyframe frequency of two seconds, with a maximum of four seconds. YouTube recommends RTMPS, the encrypted extension to RTMP. In OBS, check the relevant streaming output and encoder controls against the current YouTube guidance: YouTube’s live encoder settings.

- Next-Gen Gigabit Wi-Fi 6 Speeds: 2402 Mbps on 5 GHz and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz bands ensure smoother streaming and faster downloads; support VPN server and VPN client¹
- A More Responsive Experience: Enjoy smooth gaming, video streaming, and live feeds simultaneously. OFDMA makes your Wi-Fi stronger by allowing multiple clients to share one band at the same time, cutting latency and jitter.²
- Expanded Wi-Fi Coverage: 4 high-gain external antennas and Beamforming technology combine to extend strong, reliable, Wi-Fi throughout your home.
- Improved Battery Life: Target Wake Time helps your devices to communicate efficiently while consuming less power.
- Improved Cooling Design: No heat ups, no throttles. A larger heat sink and redefined case design cools the WiFi 6 system and enables your network to stay at top speeds in more versatile environments.
Set keyframes to the recommended interval
YouTube warns that keyframes sent too infrequently can cause buffering. A two-second keyframe interval corresponds to 60 frames at 30 fps; at 60 fps it corresponds to 120 frames. If Live Control Room shows a specific ingestion error, use that message to guide the correction rather than changing unrelated settings.
Try OBS network options one at a time
OBS’s menu labels and available controls can differ by version and operating system. Use only the options present in your installation, change one at a time, and note the result. The documented paths are in OBS Project’s connection troubleshooting guide.

- NIGHTHAWK WIFI 6 ROUTER FOR YOUR WHOLE HOME: Delivers fast, reliable WiFi across every room of your apartment or small home for streaming, gaming, video calls, and smart home devices, all running at the same time without slowing each other down.
- WORKS WITH YOUR EXISTING INTERNET SERVICE: Pairs with your existing modem or gateway via ethernet. Compatible with most cable, fiber, DSL, and satellite providers. Some gateways and modem router combos may require bridge mode. No coax needed.
- SET UP AND MANAGE YOUR NETWORK WITH THE NIGHTHAWK APP: Download the free Nighthawk app on iOS or Android for guided setup. Manage WiFi, run speed tests, pause devices, and set up guest networks from anywhere. Active internet required.
- READY FOR THE DEVICES YOU ALREADY OWN: Your phones, laptops, and TVs work right out of the box. WiFi 6 delivers speeds up to 1.8 Gbps across 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. Backward compatible with WiFi 5 and earlier.
- COVERAGE IN EVERY ROOM: Covers up to 1,500 sq. ft. for up to 20 connected devices. Walls, floors, and interference can reduce range. Larger or multi-story homes may benefit from a NETGEAR Orbi mesh WiFi system.
- Settings → Stream: If a server selector is available, try a different server. Testing a different service can help isolate whether a problem is specific to one service, but it does not by itself repair the underlying route.
- Settings → Advanced → Network → Bind to IP: Leave this set to Default.
- Settings → Advanced → Network → IP Family: OBS suggests trying IPv4 Only. If that makes no difference, return to the default IPv4 and IPv6 setting.
- Windows only, if available: OBS says some users report benefit from Enable network optimizations and Enable TCP pacing. These are options to test, not guaranteed fixes.
- Dynamically change bitrate to manage congestion (Beta), if available: This may reduce dropped frames when the link cannot keep up, but OBS says it does not solve the root cause and may reduce video quality.
Isolate Wi-Fi, router, and software factors
If you are streaming over Wi-Fi, test with Ethernet if practical. OBS recommends a wired connection when Wi-Fi instability may be involved. If the wired test improves stability, the Wi-Fi leg deserves attention; that result does not establish that the wider JioFiber route is healthy or faulty.
- Check whether a VPN, firewall, antivirus program, or bundled network-prioritization or optimization software is interfering. OBS’s documented security-software test is temporary: test whether it is involved, then add an OBS exception and re-enable protection.
- Check for outdated network drivers, and inspect the router and cables as possible causes.
- For general connectivity issues, OBS suggests restarting the modem or router. Consider replacing hardware only as a diagnostic after considering the ISP’s advice.
There is no verified JioFiber router or ONT model, firmware version, or corresponding admin-menu path established here, so a specific router-setting recipe would be unreliable. The guidance above is general OBS and YouTube troubleshooting, not a claim of a current JioFiber outage.

Check latency only if playback buffering is the issue
YouTube’s latency guidance describes a tradeoff: lower stream latency can mean more playback buffering. If OBS’s dropped-frames counter is stable and viewers are buffering, review the latency setting in YouTube Live Control Room and test a less aggressive latency option if appropriate. Do not assume that switching to lower latency is an automatic fix. YouTube’s live-stream latency guidance explains the tradeoff.
When to contact your ISP
If lowering bitrate, testing Ethernet, and checking relevant software and OBS network options do not resolve broadcaster-side dropped frames, OBS recommends contacting the ISP. Routing or congestion can be outside your control. Give support specific evidence rather than only reporting that the stream buffers:
- When the issue occurred and how long it lasted.
- Your OBS log and the dropped-frames percentage.
- Selected bitrate, resolution, and frame rate.
- Whether the test used Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
- Any YouTube Live Control Room stream-health warnings.
- Whether the same stream behaves differently on another service or connection.
