NVIDIA reports much higher total-company revenue, but the available figures do not establish that it has higher AI revenue than Broadcom: NVIDIA reports Data Center revenue rather than a standalone AI revenue line, while Broadcom separately reports AI semiconductor revenue. The margin figures also are not directly comparable, and forward P/E snapshots at the October 6, 2026 close put Broadcom slightly higher. The right comparison depends on keeping each company’s category, fiscal period, and metric distinct.
What the reported revenue figures do—and do not—show
NVIDIA reported $96.2 billion in total revenue for Q2 FY2027, in results released August 26, 2026. Its FY2026 annual filing reported $215.9 billion in total revenue for the fiscal year ended January 25, 2026. Those are company-wide figures, not standalone AI revenue.

Broadcom reported $16.7 billion in AI semiconductor revenue for Q3 FY2026, up 221% year over year, and $29.6 billion in consolidated revenue. Broadcom’s quarter ended August 2, 2026. Its AI semiconductor figure is a company-reported category; it is not directly comparable to NVIDIA’s total revenue or to its broader Data Center segment.
| Measure | NVIDIA | Broadcom |
|---|---|---|
| AI-specific figure in the cited results | No standalone AI revenue figure stated; NVIDIA reports Data Center revenue as a segment. | $16.7 billion AI semiconductor revenue in Q3 FY2026, up 221% year over year. |
| Total-company revenue | $96.2 billion in Q2 FY2027; $215.9 billion in FY2026. | $29.6 billion in Q3 FY2026. |
| Period reference | FY2026 ended January 25, 2026; Q2 FY2027 results released August 26, 2026. | Q3 FY2026 ended August 2, 2026. |
The periods differ, and the companies’ fiscal calendars do not align. The figures therefore provide context on scale and reported categories, not a same-quarter ranking of AI sales. Calling all of NVIDIA’s Data Center revenue “AI revenue” would also overstate what the cited disclosure establishes.

How to read the margin comparison
NVIDIA reported a 75.0% gross margin for Q2 FY2027. For FY2026, it reported a 71.1% gross margin and $130.4 billion in operating income. These are reported NVIDIA results, but they cover different periods.
The available Broadcom figure is not a reported gross margin. In its Q2 FY2026 release, Broadcom forecast Q3 FY2026 consolidated revenue of $29.4 billion and a 67% non-GAAP operating margin. That was guidance for the subsequent quarter; Broadcom later reported Q3 revenue of $29.6 billion. The 67% forecast is an operating-margin figure, not a gross-margin result, so it should not be set against NVIDIA’s reported gross margins as if they measured the same thing.

Company-wide margins also reflect different business mixes. Broadcom combines semiconductor and infrastructure software businesses, while NVIDIA’s results include multiple segments. A clean comparison would require the same margin definition, accounting basis, and period for both companies; the cited figures do not provide that matched pair.

Stock Analysis’s market-data snapshots for the October 6, 2026 close showed NVIDIA with a $5.78 trillion market capitalization and a forward P/E of 19.78; Broadcom was valued at $1.79 trillion with a forward P/E of 21.69. These are secondary-source snapshots, and forward P/E is based on earnings estimates rather than earnings already reported.

On this snapshot, NVIDIA had the lower forward P/E. That does not by itself make NVIDIA the cheaper stock in a useful investment sense: the multiple depends on the provider’s estimate methodology and can shift as price or expected earnings change. It should be considered alongside each company’s growth expectations, business mix, and execution risks, rather than treated as a standalone verdict.

- Total-company scale: NVIDIA’s cited FY2026 annual revenue and Q2 FY2027 quarterly revenue show substantial company-wide scale, but they are not the same period as Broadcom’s Q3 FY2026 result.
- Disclosed AI revenue: Broadcom provides a distinct AI semiconductor revenue figure. The cited NVIDIA results do not provide an equivalent standalone AI revenue line, so an exact AI-revenue winner cannot be determined from these disclosures.
- Margins: NVIDIA’s cited figures include reported gross margins. Broadcom’s 67% figure is non-GAAP operating-margin guidance, which is a different metric and status.
- Valuation: The cited close-of-market forward P/E snapshot is lower for NVIDIA, but it depends on estimates and does not resolve which stock is more attractive overall.
Revenue growth, margins, and valuation are useful comparison points, not a complete investment decision. The figures here do not supply a price target or establish which stock is preferable for a particular investor.
